Can anyone help me out here, I am looking for a shorter buttstock for my FAL. I currently an running the stock set up and I am having a hard time locating anything else, I know there are not alot of options but if anyone has any experience with aftermarket stocks please advise. Thanks.
Well, there aren’t a lot of options for a standard FAL because the recoil spring tube is a fixed length.
About the shortest you can find are going to be original issue wood stocks without a recoil pad, just the steel buttplate.
I have an original German G1 stock on my StG-58, and it’s about 1"-1.5" shorter than something with a recoil pad on it.
The expensive route is to replace the lower with a Para style (you’ll also need the Para bolt carrier and a new recoil spring assembly) and get an adapter to use an AR retractable stock.
