Ive been doing my best to research and read around about the different gas systems, etc.
I am pretty set on a BCM 16 lw middy. Thing is, I see they are hard to find as a complete rifle. (I was gonna buy a colt le6920, then changed my mind to a A4 bcm, then to a bcm lw middy)
I know you could buy the parts separate. Is that the best way to go? Unfortunately, I do not know all what I need for assembly. Like if the uppers come with bolt, etc? Doesn’t buying separate avoid the tax?
I also see that on G&R tactical, you can buy complete rifles and choose your own stock/hand guards, but they are back and forth a lot being in stock.
What would be my best bet here on what to do/where to purchase?
Welcome to the forum! You can’t really go wrong with anything Colt or BCM. The main advantage I can think of for buying the upper and lower separately would be if you were planning to save a few bucks by ordering a cosmetically blemished lower from BCM. On the Bravo Company USA website the uppers generally don’t come with the bolt and charging handle, so you would have to order them separately as well.
You also can’t go wrong ordering from Grant at G&R. If you’re located near Northern VA you should swing by VA Arms in Manassas and check out their selction of BCM rifles.
Only if you plan on ordering the blemished lower. It looks like Grant has mid-length LW uppers in stock right now. You should shoot him a PM and see what he can do for you.
I purchased the upper lw middy and blemed lower. I couldn’t be happier. Already ran it through a basic carbine course (500 rounds). Only had two hiccups and that was due to ammo (popped primer and one ripped off feed lip).
