Any idea when you might have the FF RAS MRE available again? I’ve checked around and none of your dealers has them available or know when they will arrive.
This is a discontinued item but last time I looked there were some in inventory . I will check and get back to you.If they are instock any KAC dealer could get you one.

Sorry I was not more responsive but I’m glad you got your part. Lawmen’s and KAC had the rail in stock when I checked last wk. If any one else is looking for this product we will not be producing it any more and they are available right now.

If you do make one, put me on the list. As it stands, we still have to have a fixed front sight on our duty weapons.
Our new bbl retainer nut would make installation of such a rail possible. I have always thought the top rail in front of the sight was a little too short to be useful . The bottom and side rails are certainly useful. We have been concentrating on integrating the sights into the rails but I do understand why guys like and have to have a provision for the standard fixed sight. We just have to pick our battles at KAC right now and our real focus is on complete weapons. I will see if we have anything around that is still unfinished and could be easily modified to such a rail as the URX MRE. The original MRE was Dave L(Cold Blue)'s concept and I never really liked it so when DD won the Sopmod 2 with a knockoff of it I never get to hear the end of it from him.
The 12 O’clock rail offers ideal placement for a weapon mounted light.
I tried a scout light on the one I pictured, but it did not fit the best, as it rubber the Front sight gas block. An X300 with a modified DevGrp switch I think would be idea – I just have to bug SF at SHOT about that idea though.
I had thet SR16 with the URX with ears - and until the 12’ lights showed up, all I wanted was ears.
I like the MRE rail but wish there was a rail piece on the bottom as well. I like to run a VFG just short of the front sight and hear that getting your hand on the barrel in the open space there can be an issue. That URX with the front sight opening would just do the trick nicely.
A few years ago I purchased a SR15 match for use on duty and loved it.
They later changed our policy and we all had to use department issue Colts or Bushmasters. I then sent my upper to Accuracy Speaks and had them turn it into an upper for National Match competition.
Now there is a memo in the works to let officers carry their personally owned weapons again. However, there are no “Franken-guns” allowed. We are also trying to get rid of the fixed front sight provision as well but some of our armorers are fighting that one.
Is it possible to purchase any Knight’s SR15/SR16 upper or upper receiver only (even one piece at a time)? I would very much like to make my rifle “whole” again for use as a duty weapon.

I’ve finally got my KAC FF RAS MRE / LMT M4 project completed. I could not be more pleased with the MRE. It is everything you could ask in a FF rail system.

Keep buggin’ Kevin B and the rest of the KAC crew to put out that URX-MRE. It is a great concept with a solid niche.
We have two URX-MRE designs on the books.
However we have to concentrate on rifle production at the current time.
If there becomes a need for these, and we have excess capacity, then these will be looked at for production.
Understood. I am looking forward to seeing many KAC weapons in the hands of good guys on our streets.

Yes, I love mine.
It has a lot going for it. Completely free floating, added reliability of using the stock (pinned in place) FSB/gas block, length that allows me to move my light and sling mount way forward so I can grip the weapon out to the FSB for better control without interference. I am also able to use the ends of the KAC rail panels as a convenient hard surface to grip and pull the weapon harder into my shoulder, thus aiding in recoil control. I have actually moved my light and sling mount farther forward than in my pictures above.
KAC hit a home run with this rail system.
