Are you handloading these or are you running factory? I have been thinking they wouldn’t get proper expansion at 100 yards or better. Need more info on this.
If the concern is proper expansion at distances, the Barnes would be my go-to. I recall reading it is designed to have proper expansion down to like 1300fps. Considering it starts off at a bit over 2300fps, seems hard to beat.

They shouldn’t so Im interested as well. Minimum expansion velocity is 1800 FPS.
That’s what I’m getting at. The 125’s have been the best hunting bullets for me. I couldn’t get enough Barnes 110’s before the season so I’ve been using PNW’s loading of 125gr. Nosler Ballistic tip ammo. So far myself and two other family members have taken three deer from 50-150 yards, all pass through’s with a .30 caliber hole. Very accurate ammo also.

What does this offer that the same Remington load doesn’t offer? It seems more expensive, and I have never found American Eagle to be high quality.
Why has no one made a cheaper 220Gr, projectile? Using a SMK just seems like lighting money on fire, seeing as how these are not being shot very far and don’t expand. Its like loading a 77gr. SMK in a .22LR
Having two major brands allows the military to feel comfortable adopting it. It is a good thing that Federal did this.
