Federal launches 300 AAC Blackout ammunition:
I saw this at targetsportsusa and wondered if it was a typo. This is exciting, hopefully it isn’t their only load. I’d like to see an offering similar to the rem CTFB loading for a good plinker.
I would also like to see some supersonic ammo from them in a 115 FMJ. And perhaps a Gold Dot…
I read that that they are also doing supersonic.
A nice 140gr SP super would be nice!![]()
Very nice addition to the current ammo line up.
Great… Subsonics are fun, but I want more standard rounds. It is good to see any new ammo for this round though.
Is that $25.62 for 50 rds or 20 rds?
Joe Mamma
Says 50, but probably a typo. It will be for 20 almost certainly.
I was all excited to see 50 rds, but I do believe it’s a 20rd box.
I wonder how well this bullet would hold up against a hog’s gristle shield.

People take hogs with 5.56 every day, even at distances. The 300 BLK makes a nice hog round fo’ sho’
I’d love to see Federal do something in the Gold Medal Match.
Is Black Hills loading this yet? I’m not a fan of BH, but kinda curious to see since they do the Mk262 load.
I read that we should see a Blackhills load this comming year. What is wrong BH ammo?
That’s a whole “nuther” topic… not to derail… but we’ve measured a bunch of it, and it’s sloppy… everything about it. I’ve quantified this in other threads so I won’t repost it here… Brass weights, primer seating, bullet runout, etc… This is observed in their .308, and 300 WM products.
Are there still no sources for BULK 300 blk? I have the upper but I’m not buying any more ammo unless I can get it in lots of at least 500, it’s super frustrating trying to find.
Availability was decent at Midway USA and Cheaper Than Dirt earlier this year. More recently, it dried up.
I’m not quite sure what happened, but it seems like there was either some sort of burst in demand or hiccup in production that drained the supply channel.
Considering both Barnes and Remington UMC were impacted, I suspect it was a burst in demand.
It’s nice to see some more players in any case. While I’m not overly interested in this Federal load, hopefully it means they will have others on the way. And the Hornady 110gr V-Max gives us another defensive round which is good, and it is nice to see a less expensive defensive round.

UPDATE: It appears ammunitiontogo.com has the UMC in stock.
Don’t let my secret out; http://shop.bullseyeindoorrange.com/300-AAC-Blackout-Ammunition_c56.htm
Actually, they are out of stock of the UMC as well.
Ironically, I just ordered two cases from them earlier in the week and should arrive shortly.
So it might be my fault. ![]()

I use 150gr Nosler Partitions for killing pigs…Drops them in their tracks!
