I really don’t like the direction that F1 is going, in terms of technology. The new cars are nothing but a bunch of Prius dressed up as F1 cars. They don’t sound like a race car should.
I watched the aussie race and was it a little more interesting to watch as more positions were swapped because nobody knows how to race a bunch of Prius want to be, pretend F1 cars.
Can we please go back to the days of V8 and V10 motors?
Meh. Even IndyCar isn’t what it used to be… I’d like to see a race class where you’re all given the same production vehicle at same trim package, a fixed budget for upgrades (safety equipment like brakes and seat belts spend as much as you like, they don’t count) and may the best team win.
Remember when NASCAR really WAS “race on Sunday buy on Monday?”
Yup…even NASCAR has gone by the wayside. It was actual manufacturer models that the working man could identify with and cheer for their favorite manufacturer. They are all homologated garbage with decals now. Fast tracks neuter them with restrictor plates that create a situation where letting off the throttle even for a split second will send you to the back of the pack, causing “full throttle no matter what” catastrophes and the all to common green, white, checker flag endings that are absolute garbage.
The sad part is that the F1 sickness has made its way to the MotoGP realm and will eventually eff that sport if they let it.
F1 is the only sport I have followed consistently since I was a child. I’ve been a masochistic Ferrari fan for about 30 years.
Every rule change I have witnessed has made the sport more lame and more gay. It’s like Cartman said when we was satirizing Kathleen Kennedy by saying “put a chick in it, make it lame and gay”. F1 went from Andor to The Acolyte.
I used to get up at 2am to watch Japan, even in the world of DVR and programed VHS recording. Now, screw it. Ill watch it later.
A race car having to slow down by 51kph at the end of a straight because it ran out of battery power is not a race car. FIA constantly letting Mercedes cheat while slabbing any rule bending by any other team doesn’t help. I think this current rule set will kill F1 for good.
Yeah… like the whole UK “Amelia” thing… you know your culture sucks when a teenage girl that’s only a meme and some AI clips fights harder for your country and its heritage than the actual breathing so-called "men"gigglesnort.
And NASCAR, that’s eveb WITHOUT the LaFrances deciding to turn into Wokester dogshit…
I think it will kill the spirit of F1. What F1 is meant to be, not the business per se.
Hardcore fans like myself will continue to watch and suffer but with less and less enthusiasm, masochist, like I said. I went to the USGP in ‘05, ‘06, ‘07 and ‘12. My wife and I were planning to go to Belgium and Japan to coincide with races, but after what I saw on Sunday I have doubts about dropping that kind of coin. The weekend tickets alone are close to $1k per person. The casual fan doesn’t understand what they are watching anyway, so they will keep tuning in here and there. Girls will continue to swoon over Charles and Lando. There is still glamor associated with it so the money will keep rolling in.
But as a sport, as what it used to be, it will die. You can’t be the panicle of motorsports if you don’t have enough power to make it down the straights. They were slowing down by 51KPH before the breaking zone. I mean come on! The sport will continue as Zombie F1, but it will never be what it once was. Even in the previous rule set, with a hybrid drivetrain they were still accelerating until they hit the breaks. Yes, they had some LiCo during the race but that was manageable, what I saw in Australia is simply vomit inducing.
the globohomos are killing everything fun, F1 included. The idea that motorsports have to be environmentally friendly can only come from the degenerate mind of a European fa**ot.
I just clicked on James Pit Lane and even the eurohomos are pissed off for the most part. But F1 bosses are not going to change anything until after china. Even if they change somethings with the current cars it will be as messed up as little boy night in Afghanistan.
The new compression testing method starts June 1, until then Merc is allowed to cheat. They were also talking about reducing the battery deployment from 350kw to 300. This would slow down the cars, but allow them to keep accelerating on the straight for a longer period of time. Still gay AF tho. Either way, it’s a bandaid for the shit formula the globohomos came up with.
They would want to wait until after China because it is a more representative race track with harder braking zones than Australia which would allow for more opportunities for energy harvesting. BUT, the back straight there is must longer than any of the straights in Australia, so even reducing from 350 to 300kw may not help.
I found it hilarious that Aprilia from MotoGP stole a F1 cheat and is now utilizing it. Aprilia (and everyone else) optimized their aero to utilize ground effect when the bike is leaned over in a corner to help with better downforce in max lean. The downside is that it causes more drag down the straightaway. You cannot have active aero, but what Aprilia did was put two holes in the aero route that can be blocked by the riders arms when tucked on the straightaway that gets rid of the drag. Genius. McClaren (McCLaren F Duct) did this using the drivers elbow or knee, but F1 quickly banned it deeming it unsafe because it distracted the drivers because they had to move around unnecessarily.
