This is pretty much the goal for immersion-type training, and you guys are unfortunately 110% correct - it’ll never happen for everyone that sorely needs this training.
WOW. Simply amazing. This company might just have some cool job openings for all sorts of career fields. I noticed that they are not highlighting just one training facility but several around the nation. Their modification to the CONEX’ is simply brilliant and allows for portability to those units that may have travel funding concerns.
That is remarkable.
Looks as though the explosions and the RPGs flying through the air could pose a danger to the guys.
I dont see how you could make training any more realistic.
The company gave a goog video presentation but something that you guys should realize is that those training facilities have been placed at various bases by the training commands. Those mobile mout sites aren’t as easy to pack up and move as the video implies. The one at Lejuene is next to the European stlye mout facility. There are 4 live fire buildings in the middle of the site but the buildings around it are not live fire so training has to stop and accountability games begin before they are cut loose with live ammo. Most of the RPGs are powered by estee rocket engines and they are attached to wires that run throughout the mout facility. The role players are extremely expensive. The training is great but it doesn’t go as smooth as the video presents.
We have used OKO funds to make this happen, after next year, those funds dry up so there will be a scale back on this type of training. This is part of the unit’s PTP training, a high percentage of unit’s go through it, time is the only reason why a unit doesn’t go through this portion of PTP.
What we are shooting for is a holodeck via the S.I.T.E. program.
LMAO. Yeah I remember those days. Hell at least we got grenade and arty simulators, HOFFMANs and ATWESS devices to make big booms and smoke. But nothing close to this.
The minute you do that you know soldiers and marines will use em for hookers and booze. Then whats gonna happen to unit effectivness?
Saw this on a TV show a while back. The RPG’s are on a wire strung between the windows and the target. They carry no explosives. The explosion you see is at the target location.
“Everyone?” I can see the combat arms folks getting more realistic and intensive combat training, but I was in the Navy, on a submarine. My training was pretty adequate for my NEC, though I wish we had prototypes that reflected plants that were still in the fleet. The basics were the same though.
The fire house in Kings Bay was certainly workable while still being safe, but you’re never going to replicate what a fire in a submarine does in terms of smoke, heat, and visibility without killing or severely injuring somebody.
I never did get a flood house like the coners do in sub school.
My uncle lives in your town nice area I used to live up in Everrett. Its possable thats intense traning however a person would have to have a predisposition twarde mental illness in my opnion
