eotech mounted in front of carry handle

Will an eotech mounted in front of the carry handle cowitness with the iron sights? What is the best mount for the money?

Thank you for the help.

may want to ask M4C member “LOBO” … he posted a pic of his steed here: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=642&page=422 … about mid way down … i have no idea whatsoever…

its not an EOTECH but the principle would be the same

Presuming you have a railed forearm that is in the same plane as the top of the receiver, you should be good for absolute co-witness with the majority of the EOTech variants.

The EXPS is one of a couple of exceptions, as it has a 7mm riser integral to its mount, which gives a lower-1/3 co-witness. Other than that, LaRue, ADM, and others have risers or entire mounts you can get that provide for lower-1/3.

Do a Search using the word “riser,” specifying the Optics subforum, you’ll see all sorts of stuff come up, including mount designations.

EDIT: Nice catch, Exodus!

If you happen to be using a vintage A1 or A2 carry handle upper, and do not have or want a quality rail system, you can use either an older Precision Reflex high ride gooseneck mount or the Bennie Cooley BC CAM gooseneck mount…

Both mounts will enable your EOTech to co-witness with the iron sights and are reasonably well made…

Thank you very much for the help. As per this prior discussion, https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=48281, it seems that the eotech 552 will cowitness with the lower 1/4 of the front site if a bc- cam mount is used. Therefore would the riser in the XPS cause the eotech to be above the front site? Would using an eotech 512 rather than the xps with the bc-cam mount be the most cost efficient solution to achieve a partial co-witness or can any of you suggest any other options (this is for a 9mm Colt 6450 training rifle which I use for indoor ranges with an end goal of emulating my LMT MRP/Eotech set-up) ?
