So far as I know H&R exists now as a basically roll mark for PSA/JJE Capitol.

This particular model intrigues me because I remember reading about them years ago and I had a good family friend (who passed away recently) that worked for the DOE security team at Oak Ridge that talked about the Colt SMG he was issued. I may wait until these get in circulation to see what the consensus is on them.
Really? Mike from NoDak Spud is supposed to be running that business unit, and the impression Harlan at NDS gave me when I was one of their last orders out the door was that JJEās intention was to have Mike run his division his wayābring a part of PSA UP to NDS as H&R rather than drag NDS down to PSA.
In a nutshell - I donāt know if this is how it worked out, but per Harlan it sounded like the vision was to make Nu-H&R and PSA relate like Lexus vs Toyota.
Rueful aside: Damn, I wish Iād ordered a few spares on their barrel-band 10/22 front sightsā¦ though Iām not sure how well theyād work wrapped around the can part of an integrally-suppressed barrel like a Silent-SR or MIST-22.
I have zero personal experience. Talking to folks that are into the retro market what Iāve heard is that the receivers are good, equal to if not better than the original vintage. (Although some of that original stuff is kinda rough honestly.) Small parts, furniture, and QC are where I have heard complaints.
Sounds a lot like PSA to me. It is my personal opinion that PSA subcontracts QC to the consumer. If you notice, and if you complain, they will usually make it right. What I hear makes me think H&R is following suit. Again, I have no personal experience.
Now truthfully with the H&R retro stuff where else are you gonna get it? Find a parts kit and build it out? Itās not like they have a lot of competition. They are selling somewhat niche products at an attractive price point.

And I have no way to find out with Soviet Socialist Shithole of Seattlegrad banning even AR PARTS, or Iād consider seeing about arranging with some local buddies to be a guinea pig.
How did they screw up the XM16E1?
Iāve talked about it before but it has serious ejection problems, likely due to a rough chamber. Ejected brass is scratched all to hell. Iāve tried cleaning the chamber thoroughly, but it didnāt make a difference. Ironically, this was one of the issues the original XM16E1s had.
Since I got the rifle for collections/reenactment purposes, Iām not too worried about it but itās not exactly confidence inspiring, to say the least.

Iāve seen this before. If the barrelās are nitrided and the brass is scratched like that, the fix is to get honing oil, honing brush in 223, and a hand drill.
Sooo, shout out to H&R for producing a proper clone rifle.
