Disappointed with my new Randall

I ordered and finally received my new Randall Model 1 Fighter w/black micarta…..and I am disappointed. When I ordered it I thought it was bowie-esq but its quite a bit smaller than anticipated. For some reason either I didnt pay attention or did not realize how small the knife really is. Live and learn.

It’s a knife?…..

Well that’s an expensive lesson.

Just curious how you didnt realize the size as you have to choose the blade size when you order. 5, 6 7, or 8 inch with 7 being “standard”. Did you order from Randall or buy third party or second hand?

Yeah, i think in my excitement I did not make the conmection on the size. I ordered it from AG Russell since they get them faster. Do not get me wrong, its an awesome knife.

Then maybe change the thread title to “Man buys the wrong awesome knife” to avoid besmirching Randall?

It happens.

I’ve ordered stuff then asked myself… What was I thinking!?!

If you have the patience, you can order directly from Randall and pick out the blade length, grip material, etc. I’ve purchased 4 different knives that way. Last time I bought one, the wait time was 5 years. Pay a deposit ($50 then), and the rest when they tell you it’s ready. You pay the price that was listed when you order it, not what it was 5 years later and no markup from the custom knife retailers.
Keep in mind that “Bowie” is a design style, not a size. The No. 1 and No. 14 are both modified Bowie designs. Different thickness, width, length, straight clip point, not the traditional Bowie concave clip point.

I may have struck a trade deal with a member on another forum for the one I currently desire

There you go. Lemonade.

I feel the pain, I posted here on the Cold Steel knife I bought and was totally not happy with the quality. It now rides in my front right pocket every day.

Randall I used to have one, and then loaned it to my brother in law for his time in the IDF and he lost it.

I ended up trading it for an rmj kilroy, jungle combat and a cuddles hawk plus $200
