I recently ordered a pair of Ameriglo Spartan Tactical sights for my Glock 19. It is the GL-447, which is supposed to have yellow tritium rears with no outlines, and a green front with orange outline. Well, the package I received has GL-447 on it. The rear sights are correct. But the front sight’s outline is most definitely white. I contacted the seller (from Amazon) and Ameriglo about it. Am I missing something here?
Is it suppose to glow orange in the dark??
I was about to order the Spartan set up but I’ll wait til you find out what gives
I was under the impression that the Pro-Glo front sights do not glow in the dark, but rather pick up ambient light, and are supposed to be orange or green (depending on what you buy) all the time. Like a painted orange/green circle.
Well, that’s not orange so I’d say it is incorrect. Go back and check your Amazon order, sometimes you need to click off the right color combo as the title may be semi-generic, but it is probably a packaging issue at mfg level.
The Pro-Glo front does have a green tritium vial like any other night sight so it does glow in the dark and acts as standard night sight would. You also get a thick orange or green outline around the vial as well. The orange is just orange, whereas the green option is also photo-luminescent (think HK factory sights).
Based on the pictures and description of the GL-447 set on the AmeriGlo website, I’d say you received the wrong sights (or factory defect).
“Spartan Tactical = Pro Operator rear sight (yellow tritium with black outlines) paired with ProGlo front sight (green tritium with orange outline)”
Maybe someone returned a set? Ameriglo has a warning on their website about not buying off Amazon or eBay.
Return them to Amazon as “Not as Described” and they will help you.
If you look at the Amazon listing for Trijicon HDs for Glocks there are a lot of reviews saying they didn’t get the HDs they expected.
Sometimes you have to buy from a knowledgeable vendor.
