Decisions, decisions! Colt Defender, Para-Ordnance PXT LDA, or Kimber Pro Carry?

So,

It’s come to this…

These are the three handguns that I have my eyes on…

  1. Para-Ordnance PXT LDA
  2. Colt Defender
  3. Kimber Pro Carry

(Being numbered has no affect on my decision).

Which would you suggest, and list your experience if any, with your suggestion.

Thanks!

From that list, either the HK45C or M&P45

+1. Not a fan of short 1911’s.

This. I own a Pro Carry and have shot the HKs. I wouldn’t own a Para.

Folks on this site are not fans of sub 5" 1911s.

Para is the Del-Ton of 1911’s. I have seen far to many sent back for various issues.

I would have to agree with those above. My experience with a Colt Defender, albeit brief because I sold it less than a year after purchasing it, was that they are more prone to jamming and altogether present a less-than-reliable platform for HD or PD.

I offer a third vote for the M&P45 if you’re dead set on carrying that caliber.

Colt Defender…

Colt has been building remarkable pistols for the last couple of years. I wouldn’t pass one up if you can find one.

And from this list, the M&P 45. I recently sold off all but one of my 1911’s, my HK45 and a few other plastic fantastics to standardize my carry platform on the M&P family. The M&P 45 is phenomenal.

I’ve seen far too many choke at the range to even consider carrying one of them for my protection. There’s just no excuse for the shit that Para’s factory lets out the door.

I would suggest spending some time reading the 1911 forum and previous discussions about the 1911 in general we’ve had on this forum in the past. (Use the search function and the tacked handgun help reference) There is a wealth of information to be had to guide your next purchase decision. If you have questions after going through all of that I’m sure someone can answer them.
