DD submitting improved AR

I’m really curious what configuration they would be submitting for that; if it would be something based off their M4RIS2, or a different rail system. I’m somewhat assuming the RIS-II, but which barrel profile as well, especially if they bump it to a midlength.

M855A1 is shiite for the money spent on it, it has it’s own thread about how much life and cash has been wasted on that farse.

If they don’t go with the Freedom Group who does that leave? Who else has deep enough pockets or the facilities to help with the project? Or could they possible team up with a couple of smaller companies and each focus of a specific part of the weapons system?

I wonder if Colt would buy the rights. DD might be able to make a quick buck off this to do whatever else they want.

I am quite interested to see the final outcome from this colaboration

LWRC and KAC were ham-stringed from the IAR competition partially for not being big enough.

I think they just come up with rules as they go just to buy what they want.

ETA: And Armalite was dumped partially from what became the SR-25/M110 because their fence on the perimeter of their facility wasn’t up to spec for the M110.

DD has a modern facility and plenty of production capacity. They don’t need a Bushmaster.

Agreed. Their place(s) looks HUUGE in this vid:

Around the 3:50 mark.

I wonder what they’ll come up with.

I can’t wait to see how this turns out, I would love to run a DD rifle on my next deployment

That isn’t huge. Take a look at Colt. Now that is huge. It looks as big as a 1960’s Ford plant.

Not many companies can crank out 800 M4’s a day like Colt can.

I don’t think facility size is going to be an issue if it can be demonstrated that they have the means and capability to build up needed capacity without any loss in quality. Contracts are awarded to companies all the time who have initial little initial capacity to build in the quantity required by the contract, and the contract usually allows for a gradual increase before reaching max production thresholds.

Aren’t DD and HK teamed up now? That should make for some really interesting possibilities. Would love to see a resurrected XM8. I thought we were supposed to be fielding those now according to Ghost Recon

Sounds sweet…IMO i’m so glad their skipping the whole multi-cal bandwagon idea as the article says. As nice as all these newer guns are 1 thing i never cared for was the the caliber change ability. I guess its better to have than not but it seems they try to use that as the #1 selling strategy. Heck, you still cant even get most of these barrels/bolts to change cals, not even on the American MWS. If i would happen to need a different caliber i’ll grab a different rifle.

You’ve never seen my garage.

Gunz,

Well played sir…

I don’t believe the information on this is public info as of yet. I think its probably known by a few guys here, but so far its been played pretty quietly.

There is a lot going on within the manufacturing community right now, deals being made, deals being brokered, and deals just hoped for.
