Does anyone have any experience with this unit? Would it be an upgrade from the D2? I’ve googled reviews for it but not coming up with too many articles. Does the A3 beat the PEQ? (civie version). Thank you!
Is there someone who can tell more about the DBAL’s and the use by US military units ?
What do you want to know? It’s a laser, man. You’ll see them in the more well funded Big Army units, but I have no idea how widespread they are in SOF.
Even with the ARMS mount, I still prefer it over the ATPIAL. The metal housing is much tougher, the battery life seems longer, it has a HI-power VIS laser, and independent power/mode settings. It’s a good piece of kit.
It sits taller on the rail than the ATPIAL, but that’s really not a problem. You can still use the front sight post. Also, if running a fixed FSB, it’s kinda of a pain in the ass to change the battery. You have two choices…either run it back far enough from the FSB that you risk IR splash back if you widen the flood too much, or run it too close and have to re-zero your laser every time you change the battery. I found the sweet spot on the flood and had to just barely fight the battery to change it. And as for the ARMS mount…well…I can say that mine didn’t lose zero any more than the ATPIALs are known to and it didn’t break. So grain of salt and all that.
Most guys that are issued them in my unit just have them on their rifle because it worked out that way on the MAL, and wouldn’t know what strengths and weaknesses it has compared to the legacy ATPIAL. I liked it, for what it’s worth.

From some sources i heard already that the DBAL-A2 should be used by units as DEVGRU or maybe CAG/ACE
but i just can’t find photo “evidence” , besides GROM ?
