daniel defense

I have been looking to buy a new daniel defense ar . I have been looking at the DDv5 and the DDv9 I can’t decide which one . Any advice would be appreciated . Thanks for any advice , Tom

12" vs 15" rail is the difference…

I would take either one, 12" would get the slight edge for me.

And the 15" would take it for me.

Would you rather have 3" more protection for your barrel, the ability to grip further towards the muzzle, and also the ability to mount accessories further down??

Or if none of that is desireable, would you rather save the weight and maybe improve balance or feel??

I have a V5, and love it. Great feel, excellent balance, and more than enough rail space to mount everything I’d ever want.

I’m a V11 man myself. Would rather a shorter rail to get it through VTAC holes but i can deal with it.

We sell more V11LW than any onther model.

Love my V11.

Depends on your shooting style and how tall you are as well. My buddy’s 6’7’’ and 15" rails aren’t really long with his shoulders/arms

I love my V5, but the one thing that kind of bugs me is that the rail isn’t an inch longer for my reach, I really love the rail though, so light for a quadrail and so slim as well. If I ever replaced it, I would most likely go with a 13". Having said that. the balance isn’t quite right with the V9, if I had to use a 15 inch rail it would be the KMR or Midwest’s Industries model. But I love my DD midlength, and I know you’ll love which ever one you’ll go with.

Go with the 12" you won’t use the extra 3 or need the weight

In all fairness to the 15", it’s only a 2oz difference. I find a 12" to be optimal… A WML on top at the very end is just about perfect for me, but others may have longer arms and need that extra 3", or may want different gear on the end. The 2oz difference could be made up going with a LW version, as well.

It really depends on how long you arms are. My wife and I both are extremely fond of a pair of DDm4V5LW’s. The LW barrel and the 12" rail balance the gun well.

Thanks for the advice . I never thought about the balance . I am going to order one today , Tom

Regardless of which one you get, DD is hard to beat.

I would vote for the V9, I wish I went with the longer rail.

V5 is perfect for me probably due to the balance of the rifle.
