Anyone have any insight on the plethora of custom actions out there now a days? Looking at putting together a precision rifle build in 6.5 Creedmoor. Will use it for deer and target shooting. Not really interested in building a 25 pound PRS gun. I actually already have a KRG Bravo and a trigger tech trigger. So many options when it comes to actions now days I kinda have analysis paralysis. Biggest thing for me is the ability of to have prefit barrels and maybe even changeable bolt faces to be able to easily switch calibers. Thats a huge plus in my eyes. Oh and I’m a lefty so it has to be available in left which most are.
I went down this path. I ended up getting a Bighorn Origin and a prefit 6.5 CM Criterion barrel. It ended up in a KRG Bravo with a TriggerTech, although I went with a MTU countoured barrel. Its been a great setup, and the easy button for when I want to shoot to 1000yds. I might of gone with a more expensive action, but the Bighorn does everything I want and .4-.6MOA groups are unsurprising with it.
Part of the reason I went with the Bighorn Origin was to keep from chasing all the different options and getting stuck.
Easy thing to do is pick one if the top ones listed here:
Whats important to you, light bolt lift? Short throw? Do you have a preference for cycling feel? Budget?
You said left hand and changable bolt heads so thats a start.
Yeah that other stuff I don’t really have a preference one way or the other atleast not at this time. Think I might be leaning towards a terminus Zeus. The idea of being able to change barrels and calibers quickly is definitely a plus.
