I dissasebled my bushy m4 and added a new grip and when I put it back together the safety wont work. It wobles in the fire position and when you pull back the handle it will move from safety a full 180 degres the other direction past fire. What happened?
Are you 100% certain the detent didn’t fall out when you had the grip off the lower? :eek:
Is the detent a small pin that is pointy at one end. It fell out. Where does it go.

When reinstalling the pistol grip did you lose the detent? It is a little piece of metal that goes on top of the spring. Check for it’s presence.

You stuff it point side up into the hole in the lower before installing the grip and safety spring. The spring applies force on the detent and the detent applies that force on the safety…and thus you get the positive ‘clicks’ when switching from safe to fire and vice-versa.
If it is the little piece I was talking about I have it but it is out of the gun. I don’t know where it goes to put it back in.

I found it. I didn’t know there was a spring. It fell out to. I got it all back together. You guys are awesome. Thank you so much. This is my first ar and I though I broke it. I thought it was just the one big screw you had to undo. I guess everything is a learning experience. I wont make that mistake again.
