Ok guys…just got back from a local gun show and all I can say is that Colt AR’s are VERY high priced!
The 2 tables that had them wanted from $1500 - $1800 for their rifles. The dealers I spoke to would not budge at all on the prices.
No one had the LE6920, it was mostly sporters and other AR types the designation of which I do not remember, and they were SCARCE!!! I saw a TOTAL of 4 Colts in the entire show.
Supply and demand. The last non-mil batch was sold/parted out long ago and the next batch has yet to be made. Demand is level or rising. Dealers are betting they can sell for the higher price.
ETA: Did you lay cash on the table, let it lay there and then take it away?
I did not think to do that, maybe if I had laid $1200 on the table I may have been able to negotiate, but I felt kind of discouraged at the prices being offered.
I really dont think they would have negotiated down more than $100 at MOST.
I think I’m going to have an AR built for that kind of money!
I shit you not; there’s a guy that attends the gun shows around here that has had (and will continue to have) a Colt 6400c for sale since 2003. Yes, it’s the same one because I remembered the serial number! My gun show buddy and I stop buy every Hampton show and check on it just to be sure
He still wants $1700 and some change for a post-ban model.
Rob S,
I have both a Colt and LMT. I will stand by my statement. LMT’s quality is on par with Colts, if not better.
SethB,
Why would you run a Colt BCG over a LMT? LMT’s are MP tested, have proper staking and come with the “Crane Kit” already installed. I see no advantage of one brand over the other.
