I have 2 ar’s at the moment. A S&W mpt and a 6920. The S&W will not even accept my pmags. The 6920 will accept the pmags but will not drop free. The funny thing is I have 5 pmags. 3 without windows and 2 with. The pmags with windows will drop free from the 6920, but the 3 without windows will not. Any idea what the problem could be. Isn’t the pmags with and without windows virtually the same magazine. Does anybody else have this problem with their 6920.
Moving this to trash because of the obvious Rule No. 4 violation:

As TINMAN said there was a recall on PMAGs with a manufacture date of June 2007 and earlier. It may not be the problem but it is the only issue I have heard other than with the S&W non-spec magwells.
This recall only affected the non-windowed version since the windowed ones were not released at that time. Check the round circle on your mags to see the month they were manufactured based where the arrow is pointing. The year is two digits - one on each side of the arrow.
If the date is 6/07 or earlier, call Magpul and they will send you new bodies for you to swap out. They also include a prepaid mail label in the box to send the old mags back on your honor AFTER you swap the bodies. Great customer support.
They were all made after the recall date. I just don’t understand why they will not drop free out of my 6920. I understand the S&W are out of spec, but not the Colt.
The simple reason is that the magwell dims are allowed to vary somewhat as are the specs on the mags. If a mag is at the high end of the spec and the magwell is at the low end, the mags will not drop free.
This is why you have to check every mag in every weapon for functionality. If the mag does not work, you simply sell them or use them as training mags and move on.
no offense just because you own a colt doesn’t make it infallible. Your mag well could very well be out of spec. I suppose you could find where the mags are tight and remove enough material so they drop free.
Did you post this on AR15.com, too? 1.877.4MAGPUL should be the first place you go to find concrete answers to your PMAG questions. If you’re having fit issues, just call during business hours and ask for Eric. The S&W mag well issue is known, and has been resolved by S&W in current production M&P rifles. The Colt is a new one, as all PMAGs are tested on a mag well which is known to be tight before shipping.
Eric will resolve your issue tomorrow, and send new magazines if that is determined to be the problem.
