FYI Cold Steel was sold some time ago and I just bought a knife from them. It is sharp, but it has a cheap feel to it.
I always thought Cold Steel was a good knife for those places I went where I might have to toss a knife in a river or the trash at some point.
But those days are gone. I am not going to send the knife I bought back because it will work for what I need. But if I had spent several hundred on on of the higher quality blades and it felt this cheap I would be pissed.
Which one did you get?

Sorry to hear that, I’ve always liked CS. I have had a Recon Tanto for nearly 30 years, it’s beat to hell but still going strong. Also, an old Master Hunter that I really like. I bought one of those Klein Tools folding utility knives at Home Depot awhile back, and it’s a handy little thing. It holds 5 or 6 extra blades in the handle, great for beater use.
Interesting. I used to have a Recon Tanto. Lover it. Carried a Recon Scout for a while in the Army, loved that one too.
I don’t think I actually own any Cold Steel at the moment though.
Yeah I bought it on a lark years ago, ended up carrying it at work and keeping it in the truck all these years. I’m not a real knife aficionado by any means, I have a few Benchmade, some old Bucks, CS, etc. Probably the coolest knife I own is an EK bowie I found in a thrift store years ago for 30$.
I have 3 older Cold Steel blades one is a San Mai Bowie knife that was like a $500 blade at the time and I bought from someone that didn’t know what it was for $75 bucks, then a Recon Tanto and lastly a Spartan folder.
I’ve got a Large Voyager a fixed blade Tanto and a Stilletto from them, never had an issue.

Their Taiwan made knives are still good quality. Though QC has dropped some. They also dont come with the factory edge they used to.
Their budget Chinese made knives are well… cheap, crappy, Chinese knives.
It has to be a cheap Covid made knife. If I knew they were having knives made by g-dless commies in the land of covid I never would have bought it.

Looks like they have always had stuff made in various countries including China which is similar to how Spyderco operates.
I’ve got a Finnwolf folder(Taiwan) and a Pendleton Mini Hunter(Japan) that are very nice.
Very surprised to see my Sjambok(purchased in 2023 or 2024) is made in Taiwan.
I am going to give an update, yes it felt cheap and kind of still does.
But this little knife has become my daily carry. It is lightand easy to carry, if I push down on the plastic sheath it just kind of pops off. I use my knives and this thing holds an edge. It rides in my right front pants pocket along with my 14 oz sap.
