My thoughts, exactly.
Gentlemen,
Can we get on topic and avoid some of the underhanded commentary taking place here? The tech forums on this site hold posters to a higher standard. So either step up to it, or refrain from posting. Got it? Good.
Back on topic, thanks.
I pulled this straight from AAC’s website, any chance for a 9" barrel from CMMG in the near future, or anything close to this in terms of performance and under the $425 pricetag for just the barrell? I am awaiting my form 1 back and will be switching to this caliber for my Home Defense/Tactical carbine. I’d also like to see the threads in 1/2x28 threading.

I will be pushing for a 9". It would be the perfect HD it seems.
They have not made it that far yet. As of date 12.5" and 16"
But, like any manufacturer, if demand is there, they will carry it.
You could also have a 12.5" cut down by them.
Dave
Sounds great, am looking forward to getting a barrel from CMMG for my sbr. Can’t wait! Thanks for the information.
I’m looking forward to the QD barrel attacment.
A barrel in 300, 5.56, and .22 for the same receiver.
/drool cannot wait now. That is going to kick some serious 6 o’clock. Im getting a .22 kit for my lefty upper. I already spent my taxes for this year when it comes out!
The more manufacturers that get into making uppers/barrels/ammo the better it will be for everyone interested in 300 AAC. I get more exicted about this caliber every day and am happy to hear it when more companies take interest in it.
I could see owning multiple uppers/rifles in 300 AAC if it takes off.
Shadow65, what’s the latest on the 300 blackout barrels. Are they on the shelf yet?
I think AAC/Remington are developing specific bullets for this caliber and it’s velocity generated. Barnes also did this with their 6.8 bullets, especially the 95 grain offering. I see this as a nice addition to the hunting collection and really look forward to hearing from LMT on it.
I would contact Barnes and see what they say about the bullets you have and the expansion range they are designed for.
where can one go to get the definative skinny on .300 Blackout? I get bits a pieces but not the whole deal.
Sorry for the hijack.
I’m not a fan of CMMG because of customer service issues I had about 3 years ago. If they’ve fixed that, great.
Regarding muzzle threads…I had a 10.3" CMMG barrel that I ran a suppressor on. No problems there. I never had that barrel checked, but it certainly wasn’t out enough to cause any baffle strikes. Sample size of one, but it worked ok for that one.
I’m really wanting to jump into 300blk, but ammo scarcity is holding me back (I reload, but I’d still like to see readily available ammo). I might take a chance with a CMMG barrel when I do jump in.
Exciting caliber for the AR platform. Somehow I get the feeling 300 BLK is going to become quite popular as a CQB/home defense caliber for the AR owner.
On the shelf and ready to go.
I can’t speak to customer service 3 years ago as I wasn’t doing anything with them then.
I can tell you in the last 9 months I’ve worked with them, CS has been top notch. That’s one reason I stick with them. I’ve worked around companies that the end user was expected to fix the problem. That’s why I’m no longer associated with them. If a company doesn’t stand behind thier product, what good are they? Every company will let a turd slip once in a while. How they clean it up is what’s important.
Took a look on the site, only seeing a 16" barrel. Any chance on the 12.5" or shorter coming out in the near future? Do you offer any services to “make” the barrel shorter?
I was with the CMMG crew at Knob Creek today and got a chance to shoot a CMMG 9" suppressed 300 Black Out full auto.
I was a pretty quiet round and the recoil, even on full auto, was managable.
Taz is still working on the powder charge. It was leaving some smoke so the powder wasn’t completly burned.
I fired a few rounds singularly. Shooting at a tree, you could here the thud. Rounds sounds like it packs a good wallop. Not scientific data, just an observation. It would still serve as a great entry or home defense round considering the lessened blast, controllability, and energy.
Looks like CMMG is going to run 9" barrels after all. No ETA.
Dave
I’ve just recently learned about this round. I have been on the fence with an SBR for last couple years. But after looking at the data, I would feel more than comfortable running this round for HD. Super pumped to see what the price will be on CMMG’s 9" barrel. Please keep us posted.
They going to do a 9" barrel or not?
