CMMG 300 Black Out

Yep, hunting is the reason I am interested in this caliber myself.

Keep us posted about the CMMG’s development, thanks. It may be the hog killer I need in the brush.

Our initial release will be a 16" medium/heavy contour, it will be like our M10 multi role barrels but with an extra shoulder for a pistol length gas system. For most people the carbine length gas will be the way to go with the 300BLK, but people shooting primary sub sonic ammo, the pistol gas can be more reliable. They will be 1:8 twist, QPQ Nitrided and be threaded 5/8" -24.

The tentative MSRP for the barrel will be $209.95

Uppers and rifles should be in line with our M4LE series.

My mind has been spinning with ideas over this and I to am waiting for LMT to pipe up. I’m told end of the month and we will know what they are going to offer. Maybe we can share loads for hunting. I have about 300 Barnes bullets just waiting for a barrel.

Question, if the gas system is pistol length, what will the barrels be, or will that be something the buyer needs to take care of?

They can be pistol length, or carbine, mid-length even rifle length, the barrel can support it all, but only carbine or shorter will cycle.

expect to see a lot of kinoesq and dissipator builds with these barrels.

We will drill what ever gas port/gas block/FSB combo someone wants.

CMMG barrels and suppressors don’t mix for me, I’ll pass.

CMMG had one batch of barrels a few years back that were not concentric. That has long since been corrected. I have run suppressors on all my CMMG rifles with 0 baffel strikes.

Thanks for answering my question. :thank_you2:

I have one of their .22 M4’s and while I’ve only shot ~150rnds through it with the can on, I’m at 0 strikes as well…

Since CMMG unveiled it at the Shot Show, I can tell you the “innovations” I mentioned earlier include a QD barrel mounting system. This will give some options with one upper and muti barrels/calibers.

My experience differs, and their customer service to me as a result led me to avoid purchasing any of their products or recommending them. Glad they work for you.

When was this experience?

I would agree that the CMMG MedCon system with the dissipator type setup is the best set of barrels to start with for a budget minded 300BLK setup. The 12.5" Kino (shorter gas) and 16" Dissipator (Carbine?) should both be great starting points, as would user selected FF handguards.

If the bullet selection is a good as we’re hoping, the 300BLK could displace a lot of the larger bore AR calibers for hog sized targets, and the CMMG line would be ideally placed to take full advantage of this market. The modularity of these barrels would mean a LOT more flexibility for those hunters who won’t be running them suppressed, while the same barrel can be used for a dedicated suppressed upper.

I hope you guys keep the sourced components top shelf (Bolt carriers, charging handles - to spec) so that I can make unqualified recommendations.

What I’d like to see is a < $300 16" stripped stainless barrel (1/8 twist) with carbine gas and a FSB pinned on at the “mid-length” position. I wouldn’t require the FSB tower, but it might be a nice thing to have for at least 1 build. Basically, I want a couple of these to build low profile .300BLK uppers that are not all that cosmetically different from the rest of my midlength rifles. A “match-grade” medium profile bbl would be great for whitetails (specifically, a 16" WOA Recce barrel (carbine gas) in .300 BLK would be perfect, BTW)…

Awesome to read about another 300blk manufacturer. I am planning to pick up a lower either complete or as a bare (spikes or BCM is at the top of the list). I am wanting to have a 300blk setup to put on this “other” lower. I am kind of worried about such a new round…but it has a lot going for it…the market will tell though. I am really watching the 300blk stuff to see how available the ammo is/priced.

More competition and manufacturer presence in the market at all price points and tiers will REALLY help my concerns of initial ammo price and availability. The bottom line is it will bring more people into the fold of this new caliber.

How much is this 300 BO supposed to cost per box of 20? Seems like a marketing gimmick.

For Remington Factory ammo-
220 Grain subsonic - MSRP @21.99/box
123 Grain supersonic - MSRP @12.99/box

Not sure of pricing from other manufacturers, obviously expanding hunting ammo would be more. What’s the gimmick to you?

Why a “marketing gimmick”? It’s a new ammo that will work with a 5.56 mag and bolt. The only thing that needs changed is the barrel.

Huh?

What makes 300 BLK a “marketing gimmick”?

Not reading any of the information available about it.
