What’s the consensus on a Springco standard “white” carbine buffer spring vs. a standard USGI?
I know I’ve been down this road before but it’s been awhile. Iraqgunz (RIP) was a big proponent of the Springcos.
I’m going to replace a few springs. I have a few spare Colt OEM USGI buffer springs and one white Sprinco I found in the parts box.
Lastly, doesn’t look like Colt is currently selling just parts anymore. What’s the next best option(s) for a few spare carbine USGI buffer springs? BCM? Thanks.
Most of my guns I built on the A5 system on which I use the Sprinco Green Spring, in the three carbine RE I do have I use Sprinco Blue Spring w/ an H2 buffer. Zero complaints. And yes IG was a proponent and a major influence in that decision. I have two of his classes under my belt including one of the last one he held. R.I.P. Will
Another great option is the Tubbs flatware spring. Running it back to back against other springs results in a much more “linear" recoil impulse, and it truly rounds out properly gassed builds, esp suppressed builds. I think it’s stainless, too.
That silly Geissele spring coiled thing works for those afflicted with spring noise phobias. Pappabera bought one for some unknown reason and it really is quiet.
I been using cheap windham weaponry buffer springs for the past 15 years (before they sold out). I go by the length and I can get some serious use out of them. Rifles go bang every time.
