can not find belt I saw once....

I once saw a rifle carying belt thant I can not find no more…
will discribe it to you in the hope that you could help me
it was a belt with suspenders and in front there was 2 hoks so you could simply put the rifle in them… on would be holding the rifle near the pistol grip and the other on the forearm … so when you needed the rifle you just picked it up out of the 2 koks…
but if you have a better solution to what I want to do … its to carry my rifle with no sling at all just hang it in the front of my body…thank you Michel

The question is not where but WHY?

well I shoot both rignt and left hand… woul like to be able to take rifle and to shoot etheir right or left without moving to much ( hunting deer) and when still hunting deer need to get low on ground to go under obstecal and so on…and when doing so you need to take the rifle in your hands … much easier that way…

i dont hunt… but are you saying you are stalking the deer? cant you climb over a fence? probably better than crawling under it, and why not take a nap in a deer stand and wait for them to walk up to you?

Are you talking about the Chalker sling? I hope not, because its ridiculous IMO

its to carry my rifle with no sling at all just hang it in the front of my body

Your knees/crotch will appreciate it if you abandon this idea

Might be this?

It would be interesting to know if Denny Chalker still uses one.

Seems like it would work better with a shorter gun, like an MP5, that would be less likely to impact one’s nards unnecessarily.

That sounds a lot like a 19th century rifle shoulder belt… It was a a product of Victorian England… It was designed for walking long distances an the plains of Africa, with a very heavy rifle, whilst trying not to be eaten by one of the big 5…

It worked very well for its intend task, as long as you do not have to negoiate any obstacles, and I believe it was later pressed into service in Scotland for bird hunting in the marshes…

I believe he designed that sling for VBSS (Maritime Ops). I’m not a fan.

Carrying a rifle long distances on patrol or a hunt comes with the territory. People spend too much time and money trying to make it easier, but in the end just makes them lazier.
Spend you money on dumbells or a lighter weapon. What is the point of carrying a rifle if you have no positive control over it?

That’s why I was curious if he still uses it. It would be interesting to know if the guy who invented it has moved to something else.

I know that on the first season of “Shooting Gallery” when he trained the stunt people to be “shooters,” he equipped them all with his Chalker slings (all on dry land). That was just a couple of years ago.

after reading your forums on sling well the single point seems to be what I need… because when I still hunt deer I stop every fews feet and glass the surronding bush much easier to see deer with binoculars. so I need both hands free…the single point sling would permit me to just let the rifle hang to my side and when resuming to walk could just take it and carry it in the ready mode…
I have seen on your forum a few single point… what in your opinion would be the best suited for my hunting… the rifle will be hung by the rear sling swivel… ( rifle that I use permit that since it is only 34 inches long…

For what rifle???

thompson center katahdin pro hunter in 500 sw magnum…20 barrel

I believe that weapon has factory installed Uncle Mikes swivel studs…

For your weapon and intended activity, I believe that a simple two point sling, properly adjusted, and correct rifle manipulations may be the best answer…

I suggest that you purchase a set of Uncle Mikes 1 1/4 sling swivels and a 98 cent USGI two buckle silent sling…

Whilst hunting, carry the rifle in the support side muzzle down position, AKA the Jeff Cooper Africa carry… Practice coming on target correctly from this position… This system has been in use by professional dangerous game hunters and guides for a very long time and works very well for the type of activity that you want to do…

Here is an ill tempered beast that was taken in Africa… Note the simple two point sling…

Go to Redi-mag.com, and check out their hunting section.
Theres at least two slings that should fit your needs.
