“Newsom Signs Law Banning Sale of Most Glocks in California, Targeting ‘Convertible Pistols’”
SACRAMENTO, CA — California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a sweeping firearm control bill into law Friday that effectively bans the sale of most Glock pistols in the state starting July 1, 2026. The legislation, AB 1127, prohibits licensed dealers from selling any semiautomatic pistol that uses a cruciform trigger bar and is deemed “readily convertible” into a machine gun using a device such as a Glock switch.
The bill’s language is highly specific — and clearly aimed at one of the most popular handgun platforms in America. Glocks, known for their striker-fired simplicity and reliability, use a cruciform sear mechanism that meets the exact technical definition outlined in the bill. With the added stipulation that the pistol must be “readily convertible,” lawmakers are essentially banning the sale of Glock models like the G19, G17, and others that have been repeatedly associated — legally or not — with illegal full-auto conversion devices.
Glock is likely to be around for another fifty years.
That kind of innovating just isn’t happening in the Pistol arena of the Firearms Industry.
That Gavin Newsom is against Glock only solidifies his poor decison record as stupidest Democratic Governor Ever.
I remember water in California being mismanaged, but it’s almost as if someone mentioned it and Gavin said “Here Hold my Beer !”.
I remember farm land going without water for a Snail Darter fish.
I know how much water it takes to grow almonds for Almond Milk, versus Cow Milk from grazing cattle.
I lived there when 75% of the people didn’t have car insurance because so many illeagle aliens went un insured and it drove the price out of possibilities.
Highest Tax Rate, Highest Unemployment Rate.
So if the pistol can be illegally modified, with a part that is illegal to own, thereby making the pistol an illegal unregistered machine gun, that pistol is now illegal to own in California even in an unmodified condition. Gee, you would think three “illegals” in that statement would be enough, but good old California decided to go one better and make it four. Banning one of the most popular handguns in the world, the US, and of course California.
What can you expect I suppose, California loves illegals. The word and the people.
My money says this law gets tanked by the courts. No way this is constitutionally defensable.
I wish Glock would sack up and Barrett Rule the living crap out of Ban States… hell, they do that and I might buy one despite that the grip geometry is all wrong for my hand.
I would think there isn’t much of a downside to doing so.
The only market left is to Law Enforcement Only, which isn’t that big a peice of the pie.
Certainly would make things sticky for the Ban States.
