Iām liking it.
Looks pretty good and to the point. Optic, light, ergonomic aids, durability upgrades to the mechanics of the machine. Good choices, but a shame itās required to buy some of that for a Bushmaster.
I can imagine one day, some yo-yo is going to post up a rifle of some sort⦠and proud a new papa, they will list there mods and include the:
I figured why even bother with the crappy Bushmaster internals. Mine as well upgrade right from the jump.
I added the Bravo extractor upgrade to the factory BM bolt, and its currently stored in the Tango Down fore grip as a spare. It shoots very well so far. Havenāt put it through the rigors of a carbine class yet, but hopefully this summer that will change.
ETA: Still waiting on Magpul to move their a55 on the MBUS sights.
If you had shot it first, you would have found that the rumors (of lesser quality) to be completely false.
Still⦠improvements are good, if it makes you feel better about the rifle.
What rumors are those? The chambers being too tight even though the barrels are marked 5.56? Or the bolts cracking? Or do you mean the non-staked bolt carriers and castle nuts? Those are actually all true, not rumors.
Not that I have to answer for him, but before the shitstorm starts, you do know that heās an armorer with a PMC in Iraq, and many of their rifles, which he works on, are Bushmasters?
Thereās been numerous threads on it here regarding the amount of material that comes out when you use the chamber/throat reamer on BMās, the lack of staking, etc. No need to rehash it now, just use the search function.
No actually I donāt. And I am fairly certain that my statistcal sample is much larger than yours since I have over 500 of them in my armory. None of them had the correct extractor spring and insert, the chambers were not 5.56 until I got a reamer from Ned Christiansen, none of the castle nuts were staked, and none of the the BCG were staked properly.
In addition my old T/L had his bolt crack in half during a fire fight in Jan 2007. You can even search here and see the picture that I posted. Of the 5 or so cracked/ broken bolts that I have seen in my few years they were all Bushmaster.
I have the same rifle. The price was right,@959.00. The only complaint I have is that the carrier key is barely staked at all. Iāll fix this though, according to the methods Iāve learned on here. Iāve got about 500rds. thru it so far withought a hiccup. Sure Iāll play with itās guts eventually, but I want to judge the OEM parts first. I have other rifles and projects going on now so Iām not too concerned. Iāll get around to taking pics of the carrier key later.
Fair enough.
My sample of one has not experienced any problems on the range, to-date.
I have about 3k rounds through her at this point and have had no issues.
Since shooting her at āstockā spec, Iāve begun to improve her a little at a time.
It does chafe a bit when I see people piling on about supposed āBushmaster qualityā with no proof to back it up.
My experience on the range with my copy has been different. No complaints here.
thatās the purpose for this site- to be a place for accurate information. bullshit gets called out and shut down faster than you can say ābushmaster.ā this isnāt arfcom and it sure isnāt THR. the regulars are still here because they actually know something.
