Bushmaster carbon 15 97S

was looking at the bushmaster carbon 15 97s, has anyone had any experience with one of these? thanks

I had 2 of the BM carbon fiber rifles. One fed and other did not, but BM fixed the one that did not. Both rifles could shoot about a 12 inch group at 100 yards when wearing a 3-9 Leupold. I did not find that satisfactory.

Mine has never failed to fire. Reliable as all get out and easy to carry around the property while the carbon makes it practically care free. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Bust most of all I love mine because it’s a blast to shoot, and quite accurate when scopped. I now have a laser reddot combo on it and it hits whatever I aim at.

Yes. They are suitable for lightest, recreational use only. They are not suitable for serious, defensive, or high intensity use. Keep expectations low to minimize disappointment.

skintop, can you please expend on you comments? Why for lightest use only?

Where can i find a nylon case for it. i know blackhawk makes covert ones but i don’t really want to spend $100 on one. i spent $100 total for 2 5.11 cases. one for my .308 and the other was a double for my M4 and 870.

It’s usually a surprise when they work, and they don’t like to be run hard.

So, I should stay surprised then because mine works flawlessly. Also, lets quantify hard as I’ve ran a couple of hundred rounds through mine, at a time and in semi-auto mode, and have had not a single hick-up.

That’s NOT hard use, by any stretch of the imagination.

I know that, that’s why I asked for us to quantify hard use.

And if the Bush carbon’s not a substantive enough pistol in 223 which other brand would you recommend? I am open to suggestions so lets have at it.

Bushmaster sent my unit a few test rifles when i was in the Marines, and one of them was a carbon 15, but a sbr full auto one with a stock. One of the guys on my staff now who was with me in the same unit took it to a SWAT school in Georgia. He literally melted the gun. Didn’t hold up when they were shooting all full auto and about 1,200 rounds in 4-5 hours for 5 days.

-1 for me

Metled I say! Literally … I couldnt believe it till he came back with a melted rifle.

basically i am just using it for plinkin. so shooting it ‘hard’ probably shouldn’t be a problem…i have others for that. and even if i had a problem, i’m sure bushmaster would take care of it. eventhough i would rather not.
basically every once in a while at the range just for fun.
still looking for a case though.

This pistol was not designed and was not meant to be fired full auto right?

hotpursuit58, buy it and enjoy it! Don’t know what it’ll cost you but the thing’s a blast to shoot and mine’s been dependable and accurate. And since I don’t hear anyone here offering alternatives…

found a place or two that sells them for about 900 give or take.
thanks

really, save yourself the money and the heartache.

here is a rifle ten times better for a little more if you want an alternative.

or a better deal.

or a much better rifle for a little more, if you want to wait for it to come back in stock.
