So there has been some discrepancy on another site, about my buffer.
I have a 16" carbine, with a carbine gas system. I bought my lower completely assembled with an Ace ARFX stock attached. I don’t know jack about buffers, so I’ve been looking for answer. I was told I might not wanna shoot my rifle with my current buffer. It’s the same buffer as this - http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/buffers/6600bfr1.jpg . From looking at the comparison site that pic came from, it’s an HBAR buffer - http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/buffers/ . I was told that it is a rifle buffer, and I shouldn’t run it in my carbine.
I just wanna get a straight answer before I fire it. Is it OK to run? I will probably end up getting a different buffer down the road anyway, but I just wanna know if I’m ok for now with this setup.
PM sent to Warpig. (I don’t wanna post the name, and people to think negatively on the company. Hopefully they make it right.)
The lower is a Stag. I just emailed them, asking if they could replace it, and send a pre-paid shipping sticker for me to send my current buffer back.
I don’t want anyone to take this as bashing on the company, because I was pleased with the business I’ve done with them so far. Shit happens, people make mistakes. But hopefully they make things right. I will post what they say when I get a response tomorrow.
You’re all good. The ACE stock does indeed use a standard rifle length buffer tube, buffer and spring. Do not put a carbine buffer or spring in it. These parts are dictated by the type of buffer tube (receiver extension is actually the correct term) and not by the length of the barrel.
If you have the rifle length stock you’ll need a rifle length buffer and spring (unless you’re using a delrin buffer to take up the space). If you have the entry length ACE then you’ll need to use a CAR length buffer and spring.
Thanks for the help fellas:D . Everything is good. I was worried there for awhile, thinking I had the wrong buffer. The company responded to my email, and offered to replace the buffer if I really wanted to, but didn’t recommend it (for reasons that are obvious now. I’m still learning, cut me some slack:D ).
ok I didn’t realize that the tube was same as a A2 ,looking at the picure I can tell it is longer than the carbine.I have never seen this set-up:confused: But i am glad you got the info you needed:D
