Boresight Solutions........,"Your pistolas are finished..."

Yep, I received this message from Ben yesterday. My G17’s will be home today:D I will bring you details of the work performed/initial review and pics later (possibly today).

Sorry to be a tease for now (oh wait…I’m not really sorry at all:p)

Standing by for pictures and details!

What a tease!

Also just to state the obvious. But Ben is a dirty pirate hooker, but he does good work.

Where are the pics?!

I hate you!

Sorry for being such a turd! I had actually planned on taking pics and doing a write up Friday evening…Alas my plans went to s*#t and that didn’t happen…Sat/sun same thing.

Details…the quest for the perfect handgun (for me)
Ben did a G19 for me almost a year ago… basic grip reduction, elimination of finger grooves, and trigger guard mod.
write up here: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=26509
well I found that I loved the results, but still was not perfect for me. I really prefer a full size weapon so got a G17 (police trade in from budsgunshop.com) write up here: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=38551
Well 2 is one one is none, I ordered a 2nd G17 from budsgunshop.com before they sold out. Of these one was a true 2nd gen that I sent to Ben and the other G17 was a 3rd gen (two pin frame). I loved the results of the 2nd gen and was simply planning on sending in the 3rd gen G17 for basic reduct, finger grooves, and trigger guard mod. Well before sending that in, Ben and I parlayed back and forth a bit about adding a rail to the 2nd Gen G17. Both my G17s went back to Ben. The results are freaking great!!! This is the perfect handgun for me. The Gen 3 was bit more ideal for being able to use a light and now my Gen 2 is just as ideal. Aside from this, Ben called when working on the rail for the Gen 2…Did I want a picatiny cut or the weaver/universal cut like a standard Glock. Decided on picatiny (and open the cut on the Gen 3 to picatiny as well) so I can use my X300 on my M&P 45, the G17s or on an AR (now only my G19 has a weaver/universal rail). All three of my Boresight Glocks have 3.5 lb ghost connectors with NY olive spring as well as Warren plain black rears with tritium fronts. I am actually contemplating selling off the G19 (paying off Christmas). I like the 17s so much more and notice no difference when carrying concealed that I don’t see the point of carrying/keeping the smaller G19 (other than that I’ll likely regret it some day). All in all, I am VERY satisfied. Ben’s work speaks for itself and if you’ve ever considered getting any work done on your plastic gat then Ben is the man! A true professional. No to get the scratch to send my M&P to Ben, but got to get better sights, holster(s), and more magazines first.

ETA: All three of my Boresight Glocks sport a TD/Vickers mag release

Pics to come…

ETA: These mods are all ergonomic, and as such I see them as pretty subjective in nature (i.e. what works for me may not work best for you). As you can see from the pics (in the linked threads), I think it’s pretty evident that the stippling gives a better gripping surface. The trigger gaurd mod aids me immensely in getting a better grip on the weapon. A 3rd gen with finger groves and no tigger guard mod will drive my middle finger nuckle right into the trigger guard and hinders a good grip. But all in all these mods do aide me in my accuracy (more on follw up than on a first shot). I hope that make sense.

Jordan’s expressed anger above, only exceeded by mine.

OK so I just got back from evening Christmas vigil mass and felt sorry for ya’ll and snapped a few pics…sorry they’re pretty crappy…need to get outside to take some better pics…couple I converted to B&W because they actually looked better that way

Gen II G17 with rail added

Gen II with SF X300

2 pin Gen III with SF X300

A bit more detail of the Gen III stippling and trigger guard

Ben…It was a pleasure letting you work on these! I couldn’t be happier. These G17s are THE pistol for me.

Looks great! Did he add the rail to it?

Yes sir…Ben added the rail to the Gen II…This was the the 2nd visit it has made to Boresight Solutions…I was not aware of Ben’s ability to add the rail until after I had gotten it back from it’s first visit…Turned out pretty nice didn’t it?

Looks fantastic. Makes me want to get a beat to hell Gen II Glock 17 and have it worked. Nicely done. What did that set you back?

Ben is the plastic gun artist!

I’m sooo ready to get my guns out to him.

Thanks for the pics!

I didn’t know anybody could add a rail to a second gen. That’s the HEAT! I’m now giving the stink eye to my oft neglected 2nd gen G19! Anybody have a price for the rail work?

Thanks for the pics. Both guns look great.

interested in getting some work done with ben. Do you have to ship the whole gun and what does shipping usually cost? Thanks–TG

Regarding pricing of the rail inlet; I was Boresight’s first customer to have it done so I would suggest contacting Ben directly about what pricing for this service is going to end up being, and/or to see if he’s going to actually offer it up as a regular service provided.

Regarding shipping. You can send just your frame, Ben wont need the slide unless you’re having other work performed. The frame is where you’ll get hit on the shipping side. USPS will only do FFL to FFL and FedEx and UPS will require next day air.
From Boresight’s site
“(N) Return Shipping will be via UPS or Fedex Overnight, insured, with signature confirmation. (Per UPS and FedEx rules, handguns must be sent overnight.) Shipping cost will be determined upon completion of order, and added to your invoice total.”
From FL to me in TX, return shipping ends up being about $50. That part really bites when you consider that Ben will do the basic reduction and texture for $145…shipping ends up being 25% of your cost.

Thanks very much for the info, adh. I’ll contact Ben. one of my G-19’s is a Generation II, and will be ordering a Generation II G-17 next month. I’d love to have him add the rails to both.

(off-topic remark) That RCS holster is working out great, BTW!

The RCS Phantom is a great pice of kit. I am wearing one for the G17+X300 as I type with with my Boresight GenIII G17:cool: The Phantom for G17+X300 works just fine is I carry the G19, so that one just wasn’t needed any longer.

I actually spoke to Ben on the day before Xmas. He was extremely helpful and actually didn’t seem to rush and finish the conversation even after admitting he was out of state. ( I did feel bad after he made the comment). Anyways, he answered some of my questions and and he advised me that his gallery is down and he should have a complete new site up mid of January if I recall. I am half afraid to send a gun off till I can view some pics of his work that explains his mild to wild creations so I can get a understanding as to what I am asking him to do. Nonetheless, Ben was a great to talk to and I cant wait to see his pics when he gets them up. In the mean time, I will have to rely on you guys to post your pics of the work. Can anyone explain the feel to a bare hand on how Ben’s stippling feels in your hand. Is it a bumpy glock plastic feel for better or words or does it have a slight tackiness to it?
Ky Cop;)
PS Thanks for talking to me on your day off Ben.

Does boresight do grip shortening? I have a beat up 2nd gen 17 that I wouldn’t mind having the grip stippled and shortened to 19 length.
