I was cleaning my M&P15, and was using some Outers Nitro Solvent to get the carbon off the back of my bolt. Some overspray got onto my Bolt Carrier and I didn’t really think anything about it. But when I got to cleaning the BC, I noticed the overspray had taken part of the black coating off the parts. Im assuming with wear, it would come off anyway, and it always stays oiled. But will this cause any problems ?
I don’t foresee any problems as long as you keep the bolt and carrier lubed, even then, as you your self stated, the finish will eventually wear off in some places from use.
I have a BCG that is nice and shiny and buffed out…nothing but bare metal. Keep her lubed and there will be no issues.
Outers Nitro solvent will not remove parkerizing.
Are you sure it did not just take some carbon of of a wear area?
Thanks guys.
After looking at it again, I believe you are right. Guess I’m just paranoid.
