Former congressmen Bob Barr is seriously considering a Presidential run under the Libertarian Party ticket and would receive the endorsement of Ron Paul. Could this spell doom for John McCain or just even out the Nader factor on the other side?

Bob Barr is a good man, but he wouldn’t even be a blip on the radar screen in a General Election.
While not a disaster, it isn’t good. If Obama get the Dem nomination, which is the way it’s headed, McCain is going to need every ace. It would suck to lose by a margin of Barr voters. I have no love for McCain, but we need to play the hand we’re dealt, not engage in wishful thinking.
Considering the margin of victory the past several general elections any siphoningg of votes will prove interesting. Remember A LOT of the left hate Nder for ‘giving’ the election to GWB.

Great, more of the “yeah, he fucking sucks and has policies almost no true conservative can swallow, but at least he’s not a Dem” argument. Yeesh, no wonder our Republic is ailing.
I’ll hold my nose (tightly) and vote for him if Obama is the opposition because having a Mugabe-esque black nationalist, socialist pinhead with little experience of any kind is exponentially more terrifying than a “maverick” with a bad attitude and freakin’ lousy politics. If Clinton wins her nomination I’m voting my beliefs. If Bob Barr ends up being the least offensive to my sensibilities, he’s getting my vote.
I’m sure I’ll be blamed for a Democrat getting into office when the time comes and you know what, I don’t give a damn.
If he weren’t so good on gun rights, no one here would know who he is. 99% of the American public would not know him from Adam.
I had the pleasure of assisting/coaching Rep. Barr for a day on the range back when he was still in Congress and I was still at NRA. Very nice guy, very sincere supporter of Second Amendment rights. Absolutely no way I’d throw away my vote and help Obama and/or Hillary win by voting for the guy, though.
Now’s not the time to kid ourselves. Hillary or Obama would be a disaster. Their both liberal socilist hell bent on distroying the 2nd amendment. Bob Barr, as much as I think he would be a GREAT President, would only pull votes from McCain, who is a better option than the dems and is electable where as
Barr is not. I’m not crazy about McCain But Thats the way it works and we all know it. So does Bob Barr. God help us (U.S.).
There are few politicians for whom I have as much respect as Bob Barr.
That being said I don’t think he changes much in terms of the race at this point. His window has long since closed. He poses no threat to McCain, at least for now. If it came to that i would vote McCain as he remains the only real choice.
This being said Barr is the ideal for me, even with his ACLU affiliations.
