Black Ops 1911 range day!!!!!

So i have the honor of calling Mike Bush from Black Ops a friend and he made the trip out to see me before I deploy, bringing with him some toys. Figured i would post up since nobody has really done a review of his new 1911 and/or posted about his Ranch rifle especially in this configuration.

the 1911:

Commander size railed 45
Kart barrel
chen magwell
Tool steel parts everywhere
Caspian slide and frame

We blew through about 600 rounds of 45 today a good portion of was spent on his new 1911

this one was Mike’s personal gun he JUST finished. First impression is its a VERY VERY nice gun, the detail work is amazing as with anything that leaves Mike’s shop. The fit of beavertail, magwell, was perfect. The serrations on top of slide were super clean. Overall its as nice as anything i’ve shot. Mike is bluing his guns and so any finish issues you see in these pics is all oil or finger prints on the bluing cuz the gun was finished really well. Gun shot extremely well (well when i shot it  a small jab at Mike). We (I) was hitting a 4" hostage target at 25 yards with relative ease which is pretty damn impressive with a commander size gun offhand with no rest.

yeah did a few reloads too

Overall I was very impressed, I think this configuration in 9mm would be amazing which is what i’ll most likely end up ordering when i get some cash together, lol.

Highly recommend Black ops if you are in the market for a high end custom, They are putting out some extremely nice stuff.

couple other pics i took

Beautiful guns!!!

His blueing looks great. I thought it was ion bond at first. The ejection port work looks great & so do the ball cuts.

+1 on the ball cuts looking great.
I am usually a fullsize 1911 guy, but that could easily change me.
Thanks for sharing, I will have to check them out

someone asked so i’ll put it up, the sights on both guns are Harrison, the hammer on the commander is a Harrison, on my rail gun is a Koenig

Nice! Are those the Caspian slanted rear cocking serrations or did Mike cut them? They look more closely spaced, almost Les Baerish.

Thanks Guys for the good words.

Dave,
The serrations are Caspian.

I’ll add here that our 1911 Builder is Tim Cronin. I take part in the design-work, but the talent you see here is all Tim. Tim came up in the Yost shop in Tempe.

well i took the plunge and ordered a 9mm version of the pistol above, damn it I have the 1911 sickness like no other.

You have a bad case of it Joe. We’re now doing a few 9mm 1911’s

wow!!!
Very, very nice, Mike. Tim’s work looks great and after you mentioned it, I can where he could have been influenced by Ted Yost. Beautiful work.
The OP mentioned your Ranch Rifle work in first post? Is there another thread somewhere related to that?
Thanks,
Beach

Thanks Beach. The RANCH Rifle post is here:

Another example of the fine commanders from Black Ops. This one done on a 1950’s Colt LW commander.

One of the great things about the company is that if you have and questions or concerns, they will answer phone calls and spend as much time with you as you need. Great customer service, and Tim is great to talk to about 1911’s.

Can’t wait to get mine back in a couple weeks.

What’s the deal with the cocking serrations? It might just be the photo, but they look a little jacked up to me.

If your refering to mine, I took that photo at the ffl right when I received the pistol, not all of the grease/oil was wiped off yet.

here’s another pic, still not the greatest photo, but maybe a bit clearer than the first.

That makes sense, thanks for clarifying.

Good looking pistol!

What does their book look like???
