I’ve done his Intermediate Defensive Pistol course and will be taking the Advanced version this fall. IMO, Bill is a phenominal instructor and is one of few people on my “shor” list of people I train with whenever I get the oppertunity.
Bill Jeans was one of the instructors for a 5-day Handgun 2 class I attended at Thunder Ranch before they left Texas. He is a great instructor, and I wouldn’t hesitate to take another class with him for any platform.
I haven’t trained with Bill, yet, but in dealing with him trying to host a carbine instructor course, he was a gentleman. He also was not above recommending others who could help me. He did everything he could to help a fellow cop in need.
Bill is on my short list. A guy I would trust with my life, my kids and my wife recommends him. That’s all I’ve got.
Who else did he recommend? I have heard he is a shotgun guru, too
Bill loves the shotgun. He has stated on several occasions that a shotgun was his prefered weapon for making entries with.
I did a handgun class with him. We did shooting, and some hand-to-hand stuff that worked in with the shooting. Very educational.
TD1 there was a LOT of talking. I was anxious to get to the shooting and was sitting there thinking “come on, let’s SHOOT”. I should have paid more attention. After TD3 on the long drive home, all the things he talked about on TD1 with regards to mindset etc. really began to sink in. Changed the way I think about the whole self-defense thing entirely.
Great instructor. Would love to get a chance to do carbine with him.
Oddly enough, I’ve never taken a class from him even though I live here in AZ.
I thought he had retired. ![]()
Not only is Bill a great instructor, he is quite the student of history. He is very interesting to talk to, and an all around great guy.
Yep, good point. Very well rounded guy and always has something to chat about no matter the subject at hand.

I trained twice with Bill, once in 1995 while he was with grey Gunsite and 2002 as Morrigan Consulting. I highly recommend him.
2 thumbs up.
Would not hesitate to take another class from him.
Nope; still actively teaching. He even chimes in over at 10-8 from time to time.
Bill is actively teaching. We’ve got him coming in for a three day in-service for our instructors here in a couple weeks. It’ll be the third time we’ve had him out here to teach and my sixth class with him.
The comments on Bill, especially his grasp of history, and his instruction are spot on. The material he teaches is proven and it works.
He must have just retired from the Glendale Community College L.E. firearms training duties.
Does he have a “signature” class…a class that he teaches better than any other?
I’ve only done his Intermediate handgun course, though I’m going through the Advanaced version later this year. I found the IDP to be a phenominal course and highly recommend it to everyone.
Bill was up in Alaska about 2 weeks ago teaching a “two man tactics” class. Couldnt make the class but got to spend some time with him while he was in the shop. Very nice and down to earth guy!
Assuming you own all three (shotgun, pistol, carbine)
Assuming you may be like many others (myself included) who have never had any real formalized training on any of the platforms listed
If you are licensed to carry a handgun (and do so), I’d recommend taking a pistol class as that may be the most likely class to help you in a real world scenario
now if I could just find a good class for myself to attend somewhere near San Antonio, TX (and, just as important, the time to attend)
I am bias as Bill is a friend, but don’t limit yourself to just one class…take all three. I have been fortunate to have trained with the majority of the top tier instructors and Bill easily sits at that table. More importantly Bill is one of the few instructors who can teach all three weapon systems very well. www.morrigan-consulting.com
