BFG Ten-Speed Ultralight Dump Pouch

I did a search for some reviews on these and not a whole lot came up. Does anyone have much experience with them who can give me some pros and cons over a traditional dump pouch? I like the low profile style, but they seem pretty flimsy. It looks like the opening of the pouch isn’t very rigid, and that it might collapse on itself when it’s just hanging there, making it a pain in the ass to drop mags in without using your finger to pry it open.

Thoughts?

Keep this in mind: I like it on my training/range belt rig. I have no desire to mount one on my “work rig” over here as I don’t practice mag retention on the range or in the real world.

It’s mounted on a pistol belt at about 4/5o’clock. Yes the Helium whisper will hold up to training on a belt.

It’s nice to throw a hand full of extra rounds in when everyone else is hogging the ammo box. I also use it to hold my ear-pro. It does the roll of a cargo pocket only a little better because you don’t have to bend over to get things out and you stay more mobile by not adding weight to your legs (ammo in cargo pocket).

Pro’s:

  • US Made, buy a great company
  • Lightweight
  • Low profile
  • Durable
  • Useful
  • Belt or MOLLE mountable
  • Draw cord is one-hand open/close (I believe).

Con’s:

  • Somewhat expensive
  • Needs to be stuff in properly or it will pop out
  • Swings round when overfull (two hand fulls of ammo max).

I would probably use one over here if I was doing SSE work. There’s only so much room on my belt and I usually fill with priority 1st line gear.

Really depends on why you think you need it, but hopefully that helps a little.

That helps a lot, and swinging around on the belt was something I hadn’t considered.

What about the mouth (opening of the bag) not staying open? Is that ever an issue? For extended flat range use (classes) would this thing work well, or would a larger, more rigid pouch be more convenient?

i recently purchased one and havent gotten any time with it.
but like dave said, construction is great and its very low vis.

It depends if you plan to practice mag retention. If you are just going to use it for random gear or loose rounds, the opening is wide but sags a little. It’s still easy to put stuff in.

If you wanted something to practice mag retention, but is not low-pro, look at the Emdom-MM Dump Pouch, it’s probably the best purpose-built dump pouch I have ever used.

Well I ordered both the BFG Ten-Speed and the Emdom-MM.

Here they are side by side. I just got them in the mail today, so I can’t give a good review. (Sorry for the shitty iPhone pics).

Loaded with two full mags each…
