Beta mags

Beta mags the good , bad or what ?

Not very good. Spend the money on 30 round mags.

They bang around, make noise, are finicky as hell, and heavy. IMHO a total waste of time and dollars. $250.00=1 Beta mag or 25 quality 30 rounders, do the math!

No kidding. Never saw the use for beta mags personally (but I don’t have a fun switch either). After holding one at a gun shop it felt as though if you drop it, you’d be out all that cash. Maybe it was a knockoff or something but it just felt… cheap.

I have used them before, though not extensively. Their reliability issues were apparent though.

Buddy of mine got one shipped to us at our FOB. It was great at the bzo range when he first used it but after two patrols it got sandy and started having feeding issues. If you have a RR or a DIAS it would be novel but not really worth it for an Ar15. Having a 100rd mag shitting the bed is less than ideal. I’d much rather have a box of pmags.

I have a 5.56mm and 9mm Betas. Both function flawlessly. If lubed per instructions they are reliable. Only downside in my opinion is that they rattle, but so do AK drums.

They would be fine for a static standoff position, particularly on a full auto. It’s nice that you have high capacity in a prone position without a long mag in the way. But I had one and got rid of it. Too heavy, bulky and cumbersome for 95% of what an AR needs to do.

I agree,

bravocompanyusa right now has D&H AR-15 Magazines with Magpul followers for $9.99.

Beta mags seem neat, if you have an M-16, and are shooting the Beta Mag for recreation with it.
