Best VFG for DD Omega Rail

I apolgize for the lame question, but does anybody have any particular suggestions for a VFG on a DD Omega rail? It came yesterday  and I have no idea what will work or what is best.

I am leaning towards one of these:

Does anyone have any person experience with one/both of these or is there a much better product somewhere else I should go for?

Thanks guys.

Kinda depends on what you like… as far as what I have used,I have had a Surefire M900,Knights arm. and currently using a stubby Tango down, which I really like. Although I havent used one, Larue FUG looks nice too…

Whatever fits you best. That being said, I prefer a quick detach stubby Tango Down.

I put a FUG on my Omega 9.0. I like it very much, but I haven’t anything to compare it to.

Good, honest and factual comment. I’m always stunned at the amount of people that will say that someone should buy a VFG based off what fits their own hand, and not that of the person asking.

TRD- Some people like a fatter VFG, while others dislike them immensely, the same goes for long or short grips. How you hold the grip may have as much to do with it as your hand size.

Do you know anyone who has a couple you can try out? If not, what size hands do you have?

TOTAL BS!

You HAVE to like the VFG that I like or you make me question my decisions, and I can’t have that!

The deiter fits my hand VERY well, just wish it didnt need hex wrenches to install/detach.

As of right now, I do not know anybody right now who has one within a reasonable driving distance of where I am.

My hands are on the smaller side. To put it in firearms perspective, a SIG P225/P6 is an absolute perfect fit for my hands. A P229 fits my hands pretty good, but a
P226 will make my hands look small.

I’m leaning towards the Tango Down grip. From reading about it, it appears to have top notch quality (although it is a bit pricey) but one of the many common sense things that got pounded into my brain since being a member of this forum is that you get what you pay for. It is similar to the grip I have on my airsoft AR. Yes I know, airsoft.:o But that is probably the best comparison that I realistically have. So, as of right now the Tango Down grip is what I have in mind.

I love my QD Tango Down stubby with my DD Omega 7" rails

is the handguard cap still on the barrel? if so, you want one that is quick release. the Omega rails are narrow and don’t allow much room for SLIDING on rail covers/vfg’s/etc. the bottom/top has more room than the sides do, though. i use a fug on my omega

i use both the TD and the FUG, i feel no difference in the way they feel. i really only use the vfg as a handstop anyhow. for me it’s only there to index my support hand, help hold the rifle into my chest, and give me leverage to activate my light. i never grab it so i don’t really care how they feel, as only a couple of fingers contact it anyhow

I have a full-size TD on my Omega, and it’s fine. I also have the stubby TD on my SBR, and it’s fine. One thing to consider beyond hand size is how you might actually use the VFG.

Like theJanitor said, the longer VFGs might be under-utilized. I only have the full-size on mine because i erroneously order the wrong one.

The LaRue FUG looks to be a winner: it has three different tail caps that give you three different grip lengths. I don’t currently own one, but I do have one on order to put on the DD Omega rails on my Colt 6920.

I happen to like the Bobro stubby. It fits my smaller hands well.

I’d recommend trying out as many as you can, before jumping on any.

I’ve gone through a lot of VFGs, trying to find the one that works the best for me.

For instance, the KAC was too slender. After several other VFGs, I finally settled on the TangoDown BG.

It’s all very subjective, if a CAA VFG offers the most comfort, get it. The name is irrelevant; it’s all about what makes the end user more efficient.

Ok guys - I need your wisdom once again.

I’m not sure what it’s called, but what is the thing in this video that Kyle Lamb has on the handguard that is holding his sling in place?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhojNCdksYw&feature=related

Now, I don’t have anything close to the set up there, but is their a front sling holder or whatever it’s called - is their something like that made specifically for rails such as the DD Omega? What do you have - or are willing to recommend?

I have tried searching and haven’t come up with anything. Thanks guys, your help is greatly appreciated.

I tried the Bobro stubby and it had a really cool attachment concept, but it was uncomfortable and added unnecessary weight. The ā€œblockā€ at the top just didn’t work with my grip.

I opted instead for a GG&G. It offers a full length grip, but not too long, and it’s not too fat for my medium sized hands. It also has more internal storage than the Bobro. It’s not quick release, but that makes it very light.

The best part about the DD Omega rail after the narrow oval profile, is the depth of the bottom rail. If you remove the upper, you can slide anything on the bottom rail from the back end. That means you don’t have to remove anything from the front half of the bottom rail to install or remove a slide-on VFG.

Just use the QD socket on the side of the Omega rail. If you buy the Larue/Viking sling it comes with QD swivels. Just plug it into the Omega rail and a QD socket on the stock. The Magpul CTR stock has a built in QD socket so you might want to consider one of those.

Well, I had to look up what QD was (I found out on TOS :o) but I’m pretty set on purchasing the sling seen in the video - and if it comes with the swivels as you said, then I guess I’m good to go.

Thanks for your help.

Is this what you are talking about?

The Viking version does not have the swivels included AFAIK. The Larue Tactical version is basically the same, but has the swivels, and costs more by an amount equal to the cost of the swivels.

I think the VT is $40, while the LaRue is $70, but the swivels are around $15 each so it all washes out.

I have the LaRue version and I like it a lot. It has the best features of the 3-point and 1-point sling concepts, without some of the drawbacks.
