doesn’t seem to be very many compelling options out there for this. thinking of adding it to my setup (aimpoint t2 with scalarworks mount), but scalarworks doesn’t seem to make a matching mag mount, and nothing else i’ve seen impresses me
Aimpoint’s own flip/twist mount is not a bad option. You can flip the magnifier to the side or depress a lever and twist it 90 degrees, and the magnifier and top half will detach from the base. I have an extra base so I can easily move the magnifier between two rifles.
This is it with a 3X-C:

American Defense makes a nice mount https://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/216/
Aimpoints flip and twist off mount is the best available right now.

is the aimpoint mount a flip AND twist off, or are there separate mounts? i see an aimpoint flipmount on their site, and i see a twistmount. i don’t see one that does both
It does both. http://us.aimpoint.com/product/flipmount-complete/
Those aren’t very durable. I had an AR fall from its buttstock leaning up against a chair to the ground and it warped the twist mechanism. Not for serious duty whatsoever.

Sorry to hijack this, but what handguard is that?
Looks like LMT MRP upper.

Scalarworks was working on one. I dont know where they are on that project.
I dont know about the flip and twist but I have the a plain Aimpoint twit mount and it has been extremely durable. I have had it for 4 or 5 years. Mount can also be used to mount a PVS14 so you can swap between the magnifier and nods.
Ding ding ding! My favorite SBR upper, by far.
And yes, TNVC makes an aimpoint twist mount compatible PVS14 ring, which you can leave attached even when the nods are on your head. QD from helmet to gun in a couple seconds.
Getting close. We’ll have a product page up for our magnifier mounts next week with specs, ETA, and pricing. You’ll be able to sign up to be auto-notified when they’re in stock.
I’m really curious as to what the RB1 new offering has to offer with SBR 5.56 and 300 BO.
