Rifle is stock and will hit sub MOA at 100 yards with good ammo. Not bad for a Walmart Special back from the 1999.

I got this rifle when I was 13 years old (1997) as a gift from my father. It was worked on by a great Miami FL area gun smith named Somarriba (www.somarriba.com/). He really turned a sow’s ear into a silk purse. I’ve taken tons of deer and hog with this rifle in Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Oklahoma. Accurate, light weight, and dead nuts reliable. Hell, even the Tasco scope has done a great job and I haven’t had the need to change it for something better because I keep having great luck with it. He did a free float glass bedded stock, trigger job, muzzle break, and lapped the bolt lugs.
Most importantly though, this rifle is a gift from my father and as such it will always hold a special place in my heart.

A rifle I built myself from a kit. Shoots great and is a blast and a half at the range… especially with kids. They love the huge smoke clouds of 100 grains of FFFg.

So I’m not sure just how “average joe” this rifle is but I’m just an average joe when it comes to distance bench shooing. I have here a Remmy 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD IN .308. Vortex Viper PST glass on it an earlier this week I was about to pull off a .81 MOA group at 300 yards. That equals 5 rounds of Hornady Steel Match into 2.65".
I also pulled off three sub-MOA groups at 200 yards. The best group being 5 rounds of the same Steel Match ammo equaling 1.99".
I’m very happy with this rifle and it’s glass which is 2.5-10x44. I plan on getting a higher power scope and a suppressor at some point to round out this package.

Nice, but not average enough. At all, lol.
Wow. Have always wanted a K98k, but the condition of most I come across, and the prices they want for a worn rifle, has kept me from getting one. Yours looks to be in excellent condition! ![]()

Finished it just in time for Black Bear season.

Thanks. I was going for the style of the hunting rifles I used to lust after in all the gun books back in the late 70s early 80s.
You start adding stuff like the shiny finish, the checkering, the white line spacers and back caps and the $99 value goes away, but I’m still happy with their product. I wish I had sprung for a better recoil pad.
