Terry L. Loewen, 58, an aviation technician who FBI agents say was inspired by Usama bin Laden, spent months planning the attack and was intent on using his employee access card to drive the vehicle loaded with explosives to a terminal, Barry Grissom, the U.S. Attorney for the district of Kansas, said, citing the criminal complaint. Loewen planned on dying in the explosion as a martyr, Grissom said.
Those foiled terrorist plots just don’t foil themselves lol.
As an aside and LE sting op where the would be guilty party was offered the choice to go down the road by their own volition and intent should not be reported in the news.
What I heard on the radio, so I have no knowledge if this is correct, was that the FBI was giving him bomb making parts and instructions.
So I would say its “possible” that this was yet another FBI plot to “catch” somebody.
I wonder if the FBI/any other agency actually DIDNT do any of this stuff if we would ever actually have people “trying” this stuff.
Havent they(the FBI) already been caught at least a dozen times “stoking the fires” so to speak with these guys who in reality probably NEVER had the resources or skills to actually pull it off?
Or is it better to pick them off via these types of reversal before they are sourced with actual explosives and knowledge by other “less than desirable” groups?
I 100% agree with that, but I could have sworn in a few of these things even the FBI said “if we didnt help them we are about 99% sure they would have never done anything”. IF that is truly the case, than WHY did they continue the operation instead of just monitoring the guy or something like that?
I am not a police officer/FBI/.mil/etc… I just fly planes for a living so a lot of these things just seem odd to me. Im not saying that this guy(or any of the others) would or would not have been able to pull something off without the FBI’s help, but it just seems strange to me that we would intentionally do this stuff except to possibly try to be drumming up headlines or wins or however people want to put it. But again, I am not in law enforcement so I dont know how things really work behind the scenes(and some times I wonder if the people “behind the scenes” do either).
So I guess LE should just go around offering potentially illegal materials and weapons so if someone takes it then the police arrest them and say “they stopped a crime?”
THE United States has been narrowly saved from lethal terrorist plots in recent years — or so it has seemed. A would-be suicide bomber was intercepted on his way to the Capitol; a scheme to bomb synagogues and shoot Stinger missiles at military aircraft was developed by men in Newburgh, N.Y.; and a fanciful idea to fly explosive-laden model planes into the Pentagon and the Capitol was hatched in Massachusetts.
But all these dramas were facilitated by the F.B.I., whose undercover agents and informers posed as terrorists offering a dummy missile, fake C-4 explosives, a disarmed suicide vest and rudimentary training. Suspects naïvely played their parts until they were arrested.
Haven’t there been some theories postulated that the OKC bombing was one of these FBI stings that got away from them and snowballed into a successful attack?
Let’s consider this scenario. Would you rather that Maj. Nidal Hasan been talking to Anwar al-Awlaki, or an undercover FBI team? How about Richard Reid? What if the Tsarnaev brothers had been observed online researching pressure cooker bombs by the FBI and “walked” through the process, only to be nabbed just before the attack?
The truth is, we’ll never know if these guys like Loewen would’ve stumbled into the hands of terrorist facilitators or live materials needed. We don’t know if they’d have ultimately settled for an easily perpetrated active shooter attack, or just run out of steam. The FBI got there first. What we do know is that they had motive and intent. This guy drove to the airport with what he thought was a live IED. A normal person doesn’t do that. This guy wasn’t a good guy, period.
I know from 1st hand experience that there are a lot more you never hear about. Those are the shit talkers who ultimately fold or just get a face to face visit by the JTTF. Those don’t make the news.
FBI SOP - Find some angry moron on the internet. Ask him to commit a crime. If he says yes, provide him some fake weapons and a real plan. When he begins to action the FBI terrorist plot using the FBI provided weapons you then sweep in, arrest him, and declare victory. Make a major press release and ask Congress for money. Why is this still legal?
Maybe, but these guys they are going after get coaxed into it after months of pressure by FBI agents/informants. Its not like the FBI was responding to a Craiglist ad looking for someone to help blow up a building/airport.
This is also very misleading to say they prevented an attack because under these cases an attack was never possible due to these people being given ‘fake’ explosives.
This isn’t like we’re hearing about an AQ cell being busted up that was actually in possession of the real thing and actually scoping out a target. These are mostly manufactured cases, which like I said, only happen after months of coercion against a single individual. On the other hand, we have guys like the Boston Marathon bombers, who even after being waved under the government’s nose, apparently were never really investigated and obviously never stopped. Same with the Times Square bomber. Maybe we’d have less ‘real’ attacks if they devoted more resources on them instead of manufacturing ‘attacks’ themselves.
PATCON was run in the 90’s when the ‘militia’ movement was a hot topic (moreso a mainstream ‘threat’ in media before 9/11). Doubt we’ll know the full of extent of these operations but the new method is to find a dumbass muslim and goad them into bombing a target over months and then at the last minute arrest them and claim you stopped a terrorist attack.
FBI gave the guy fake explosives. So basically its just like every other “terrorist” they catch. Its some low IQ moron and they give them the idea, plans, fake explosives, and then bust them.
Kind of like that movie “Our Idiot Brother” when the Uniformed LEO goes up to a known weed smoker, seller and asks for a joint to “help” him and then turns around and arrests him for selling it to him.
I’m wondering where they find all of these disgruntled people who speak so openly to strangers about wanting to commit major carnage.
From the angry white guy messageboard:
"Hi I am a middle-aged pissed off white guy who works at the airport. I want to know if anyone has any theoretical knowledge about explosives. Remember, that’s theoretical knowledge only winkwinkknodknod.
Then he gets arrested in a sting and they question his neighbors and co-workers about him and they respond, “Oh, yeah, he was always talking about blowing things up. But he was a nice guy and we thought he was harmless . . .”
AND 9/11 (see Operation Able Danger) . . . and didn’t the Boston Marathon brothers get interviewed in the past, weren’t they on several lists oh and even the Russians warned us, and why hasn’t the information been released why an un-armed associate of theirs was shot and killed in an FBI interview in FL. If these terrorists slipped the net and carried out their plans the .gov WILL NEVER admit it and do everything in it’s power to suppress the information.
We will never know the whole the truth . . . this is the world we live in.
Well ya, they were working for the FEDS, participating in their “drill”. They just happen to be lucky enough to be carrying the “real” backpacks. And of course all the zombies bought it…why wouldn’t they? lol
