While many of the details of the deal being worked on are sketchy, informed sources are of the opinion that the “tradeoff” is a backroom effort that includes undisclosed “bipartisan” members of Congress, ATF acting on behalf of itself, the Department of Justice and the administration, and firearms lobbyists who have traditionally been part of the behind-the-scenes development, if not outright “ghostwriting” of classifications and rules affecting the industry and gun owners.
The Second Amendment is not about duck hunting or deer hunting, or shooting clays or paper targets. The Second Amendment is about an armed people keeping the State in check. IT is part of the unspoken checks and balances. To quote a famed Liberal icon:
“The tank, the B-52, the fighter-bomber, the state-controlled police and military are the weapons of dictatorship. The rifle is the weapon of democracy. Not for nothing was the revolver called an “equalizer.” Egalite implies liberte. And always will. Let us hope our weapons are never needed — but do not forget what the common people of this nation knew when they demanded the Bill of Rights: An armed citizenry is the first defense, the best defense, and the final defense against tyranny.” Edward Abbey, Abbey’s Road (1979).
The NRA has been doing dumb shit for a long time, playing both sides for more power influence and money.
Start calling them and threatening to cancel and never renew if they do anything less than push to kill the sported clause.
Call NAGR and ask them To get on the offensive.
The shadow masters of our puppets in gummint want to disarm this nation so badly they are doing any and everything they can. We just have too many guns and too much ammo for them to make a big move yet. They are pushing more and more, to try and bleed us dry bit by bit to get to a point where they can make an end run.
I’m really not surprised by the NRA having a hand in this type of Backdoor deal.
If memory serves, no piece of legislation regarding gun control from the National Firearms Act to the Gun Control Act to the Assault Weapons Ban has been passed into law without the NRA’s blessing.
