Ass Clowns pretending to be Cops. What do you do????

There are plenty of videos and threads on here about our LEO brothers. Some favorable and some not so much. I’ll be the first to admit that they have a damn tough job. Their job just got tougher thanks to ass clowns like this. It is hard enough to get people to pull over. Now you have to wonder if the car behind you flashing the red and blue is legit.

I’ll never understand why some LE get so unhinged at the idea of those being pulled over taking some safety precautions. If it’s an unmarked car, I’ll be confirming with dispatch while I drive with my hazards on to a public location. Particularly at night, unless it’s one of those obvious “ah…shit” moments.

You know, when you’re bumping along and see that you just passed a cruiser going 10 over? Then it’s pretty likely that cruiser is the one pulling me over.

Something about being pulled over with blinding lights, my back turned, and not being in a situation to make any defensive movements on my own…I’ll pass.

The woman in that car though…who just gets out of a vehicle when they get pulled over? And why didn’t the driver pursue the kids and call in make/model/plates.

Lol at recording it.

If unsure ask for supervisor and call 911 to confirm.

Most states have rules against unmarked/plain clothed vehicle investigation.

Yep, as annoying as a potential butt hurt powertripping LEO could be it’s much less of a hassle than being robbed/killed/assaulted/etc. One thing that drives me nuts here is that unmarked can pull you over for traffic infractions.

I understand that on one hand LEOs don’t want a big marked cruiser that everyone can see running radar, but if it’s at night and you’re pulling me over in a Red Taurus I’ll be calling 911 to confirm.

Yup. A lot of people train all day for their SHTF fantasy. They sink money into their firefight scenario when a bad guy comes in the force his genitals on their new blender. Then they see red and blue in the rear view and pull over, completely complacent, worried only about the cost of the ticket. I’ll pass on all that, it’s gone wrong way too many times for me to hope it’s ok. With the infrequency in me being pulled over, I either know I did something wrong or I don’t. Being a little careful has gotten me some of the “who the hell do you think you is, boy?” lectures. But it hasn’t gotten me shot in the back of the head so I got that going for me.

I disagree with your last point though. Unmarked cars are nothing productive in the name of traffic enforcement. If their obvious presence is enough to make people drive carefully, then it’s a success. If the goal is to catch people who don’t think you’re there, then the intent must be revenue and public safety no longer a concern. If an unmarked cruiser sees something obvious and overtly dangerous, like driving south on a northbound interstate, sure I can see getting involved. If not, the most safe thing to do would be to leave traffic enforcement as well as any public interaction roles to uniformed and clearly marked patrol units.

The only use I could really support for an unmarked unit would be parole officers. Unmarked vehicle would give them a chance to get to the parolee’s house in the kind if neighborhoods where marked units create a ruckus. Or for observation of a warrant subject, in an attempt to detain him outside of the home and avoiding a “Dynamic” entry.

Not sure about yalls AO but here in Houston the old police vehicles seem to get sold to the public. Every week I see multiple crown vics with black wheels, they even leave the spot light on but non working. They look very much like an unmarked until you see who it driving it and take a look at the bumpers. The bumpers always seem to be cracked and mangled. Whats funny is it usually ends up being some home boy with his seat leaned way back and shades on.

Police auctions. Outdated models or ones (I believe) that have reached the end of the line for repairs per policy.

Friend had one in high school, fire investigator car but every bit a cruiser. The PA system and spotlight worked fine, the low pro lights were removed though. Not bad for a cheap car, and I mean cheap. And unlike most used cars you knew it had been maintained even a little bit, and since they were trying to recoup losses there was no price gouging.

I did notice a lot of the ghetto areas in California were full of old cop model impalas from before the changeover. Ironic.

Never seen a State Trooper up here that isn’t built like Arnold. It’s very obvious who’s actually a cop and who’s not when they’re making an approach. I’ve had this scenario in my head a few times, but I’ve only ever been pulled over by clearly marked cars.

There’s a Glock 21 with a X300 on it very easily within reach but completely out of sight in my car at all times. I could not draw my carry 19 quickly/effectively in a vehicle.

I usually have a radio that can monitor local/county/state PD comms in my car too. 90% of the state’s frequencies are preprogrammed in it… I’ve heard them call up every time before the approach with location and plate number/vehicle description. I’d be pretty shocked and dial 911 if I didn’t hear any traffic.

But at that point you’re already stopped with your windows down and he’s walking up to the car. Now you risk fleeing and eluding if you take off or a gunshot if you wait.

If he’s not a cop he’s getting the light and Glock in the face. This may sound like the “wrong” answer but it’s what I’d do. Either that or book it. My car goes pretty quick.

There’s a ton of little telltale things actual LEOs will do during a stop which may seem second nature to them but if you’re looking, will provide a large amount of tells. Even the most complacent, fat, hillbilly deputy is going to square up, and have certian body language when on his approach. Some dude who’s doing this as a prank or to rob someone is likely going to be somewhat nervous.

Alternatively, I’d rather go to court over “evading” if I had serious doubts about the legitimacy of the guy approaching my vehicle. I’d hopefully be articulate enough to explain why I did it as opposed to being some retarded gangbanger with “**** da police”.

Situation dictates.

The situation is made worse in many AO by changes in various policies. When I first moved to TX getting pulled over by an unmarked was never heard of. Just didn’t happen. Police cars had ****ed up paint jobs that everyone knew and recognized. When the cars were sold at auction they were primed to minimize chances of copy cats. Now we have “marked” vehicles that are marked with see through stencil on the passenger side that is hard to see even in daylight. These traffic enforcement units are standard colors (grey, tan…) that any deuche can buy. The cruisers are black and white and are sold as is instead of primered over.

Our esteemed leaders are making a bad situation worse in lots of cases for nothing more than the bottom line. More tickets = more $$. Standard paint jobs = less cost. But both lead to less public safety.

It’s a loose loose situation, but choosing between dealing with a roid raged cop vs a serial rapist I’ll go with pissed off cop. If you’re unsure call 911 with hazards on while going to a well lit and public area. Keep 911 on line as the cop approaches so you document the encounter should it come to that.

Chase them down run them off the road
Or at least get lic plate etc…

Told my wife if unmarked car pulls her over don’t stop ! Call 911 slow down put hazards on and ask if it’s legit have them tell the Leo she was scared and wanted to confirm so he knows why the blinkers etc… Gives them a bit more info to have why before walking up in you if they are pissed about it and try to tack on charges than can come up in court
Would hope most Leo would understand though

I give these two dipshits props. I usually cant get the avg. unawaresovereignneverdidnuthinwrong citizen to stop with lights AND sirens for at least a couple of blocks.

I will have to knock them down a peg or two for their car positioning and verbal commands…weak sauce.

Do what you have to do if you think its an “imposter”, but just be aware that if you stuff a glock in the face of a “ithoughthewasafakecop…real cop”, your day might go downhill from there. But you gots to keep it realz tho so…

Really?

I myself was referring to a pretty extreme circumstance. I’m pretty well aware pulling a firearm on an actual LEO is about 99% of the time going to get me at the very least shot at, if not hit/killed.

Keeping it real often goes wrong. I never meant to advocate stuffing a gun in a cops face for a little uncertainty.

I try to find a gas station if I can’t get hold of dispatch and confirm. A lot of traffic at a gas station at any time of day or night. A lot of lighting levels the playing field and let’s me see the pulling over officer as soon as he can see me. If it’s no good, there are witnesses and cameras.

About two years ago I had someone try to pull my wife over while she drove home with my kids. They didn’t know I was sleeping in the backseat. When I sat up and saw the lights in the rear view, nothing about it felt right. As we got near lighting, after a few deliberate moves to ensure they were actually trying to pull us over, I could see that the car was a beat up old Saturn. We kept moving and called the real Highway Patrol. I was armed and had made the decision that I would end the attempted pursuit the second the car tried an aggressive maneuver. Luckily the other vehicle broke off and returned to the highway.

As it turned out, that car had been reported in several rapes over recent months. The MO of the perp was to pull cars over using some home installed lights, and have them pull off the highway for safety. He only did this along stretches of the highway where the exits were back country farm roads with little to no traffic.

It’s real. It happens.

It does happen. It’s happened in my area as well.
I pushed an unmarked car for 2 years in gangs and another year in Community Policing. I was very judicious about what stops I made, as well as when/where. In either case, our unmarkeds are the typical police fare: large sedans with telltale push bumpers and not so inconspicuous lights. When we made stops, there was no mistaking who we were, but work at night, or in an area where you don’t see as many unmarked cars, and I understand completely.

I drive an unmarked full time now as a supervisor. Policing being very regional, there are some rationales for supervisors driving unmarked cars, but I’d prefer a marked unit. Also, per our policy, absent some exigency, an unmarked car can’t be the lead car in a pursuit.

In an urban or suburban area, driving a short distance to a well lit area is a great idea. Heck, even in the boonies it’s a great idea. Just keep in mind that if you have to go farther than a half mile or so, it will make the cop’s spidey sense kick in. Shouldn’t be a problem; a courteous but wary officer should notice the lack of other cues to suspicious activity, but please be prepared to explain the delay. I wouldn’t mind; in fact I prefer stops in lit areas.

The punishment for committing this crime: Either the death penalty or a life of hard labor.

Would facing such a sentence completely stop this type crime?

No, but I’d be willing to bet they’d be darn little of it after a few of these criminals got the needle or started busting rocks…

Wow dude. This was kids doing something incredibly dangerous and stupid. There’s a lot of ways they could be taught a lesson they wouldn’t forget. But the death penalty for some 16 year olds?

Maybe we should lynch teenagers who get caught drinking, and after a few public floggings, I bet women would learn not to leave the their homes with their whoreish ankles exposed.

As you can tell, this is one crime I absolutely hate.

Perhaps, you’re unfamiliar with how many women have bee raped / others robbed and beaten using this ploy.

This type crime isn’t a prank - it’s a very, very dangerous crime and should be treated as such.

I don;t know about the death penalty but I tend to agree with you… they almost always prey on women at night so you don’t have to read too much into that to know what’s going on. In my opinion it’s a form of terrorism as they are —clearly— not trying to protect or serve anyone’s interest. I’ve certainly never heard of any that pulled people over and gave them a $100 and said have a nice day. They just caught one here recently. At the very least… absolute minimum… no drivers license in State, ever, with potential for reciprocity from other States if they desire to do so should the person move.

It’s bad enough these days seeing the over Rambo’d real LEO’s going off the chain but this situation is preventable. Question number 1 of every drivers license exam. Q:What happens if you pretend to be a LEO? – A:You loose your license forever.
