I received the stamp for my Arsenal SLR-104UR (krink chambered in 5.45x39) a few weeks ago and just received the rifle back from getting it engraved. Tonight I cut the barrel to the proper length. I still have to crown the barrel to finish things up, but here it is the way it should be.
Very nice.
I’m thinking of SBR’ing one in the near future.
I’m concerned about the twist rate and stabilization though, because I will want to run suppressed from time to time.
I’ve seen the MAC video of the rounds not keyholing, but then I’ve also seen them keyhole.
You’ve seen an Arsenal SLR104UR Keyhole? Or just a keyholing krink? That would be the first report of Arsenal Krink keyholing…
Lot’s of speculation about keyholing but I’ve yet to see any owners report that. Mine is at the smith getting choped and threaded for my Saker now. I’ll chime in with a report.
Lots of the old Krink kits were built with improper barrels. I believe some even used 5.56 barrels. Krink barrels are next to impossible to find. Hence why Bluejack barrels are changing hands for $500.
ETA: the 1:6 twist rate was adopted to stabilize heavy subsonic 80gr 7U1 5.45 rounds. 7N6 and commercial loading should be fine out of this barrel.
I have seen the MAC video you speak of and I also have an SBRd Arsenal 104UR… while I don’t run a suppressor on mine, I have not experienced any key holing issues with it.
