Are we offically marching towards socialism now?

I know many here have been pointing out for a long while that America, under the direction of the Democrat party, have been making the United States to become a socialist country, much like some of the European countries. The warnings have been out there, for quiet awhile. Yet, when asking liberals that their ideas are socialist, or Marxist, they generally deny and look down their noses at you and say you are fear mongering.

The past month, to my eyes, I can now feel I can go to a Democrat/liberal and tell them their ideas and direction is socialist. I don’t know why that in the past I felt uncomfortable in going up against a liberal with this charge. I had a very liberal English prof who lambasted me that my definition of socialism was wrong as socialism is the government having a large say in businesses activities and taking a portion of their money, or running industries entirely through the State. This was brought up by me, charging Obama as a socialist. I didn’t want to press the argument, so I ended up making his ego meter go up. (Truth be known is a very typical liberal asshole. He claims he is affiliated with no party, doesn’t claim to be liberal, yet had told me straight to my face that he wanted to see nothing more than the conservative movement die by any means necessary).

But in light of what has gone down in the past few months, or years for that matter, can we now really charge the Democrats as socialist, and that their plans are truly to make the United States a socialist country, which would mean the United States Constitution would be in direct counter to what the principles of socialism are?

Funny, that’s EXACTLY how I feel about them.

I. Held. Back…

That is obviously the direction that it is headed. However, I feel that they can only take it so far.

The minions want socialism, but what we are getting is fascism (more or less socialism with crony multinational corps as favored outsourcing for govt required and paid services/goods). It is socialism in that the govt controls the services, but fascism in that the services are not provided by the govt but by favored corporations. You play all with the heavy handed govt and you get the juicy contract–never mind you are spying on people, spewing govt propaganda, gaining personal property through govt confiscation, getting hundreds of billions or trillions in bail-outs/bail-ins, stealing customer investment funds, etc.

Working individuals and small businesses will get more and more screwed. The jack boot rules and the cronies get buckets of cash.

Couldn’t have said it better.

Agreed. It’s both parties though.

Yep. I think the republicans act like they’re the total opposite of the democrats so they can fake a change in policy during election cycles.

I am of the opinion that bipartisanship is a sham to some degree. Tinfoil? Maybe, but maybe not.

True, but incomplete however. Bush 1 and 2, and quite a few other Republicans have been also responsible for steering our ship of state into socialist waters.

I’ve noticed a uptick in the frequency of earth first and social justice bumper stickers I’m seeing on a routine basis so, yes.

Sad days lay ahead of us…

I keep seeing more and of those “Coexist” stickers with all the different religious symbols for letters. And they’re usually on imports, mostly Prius owners.

Wow. Really? I can only see that as a positive move away from bigotry.

When I went to the gym last night I had the unpleasant experience of parking next to a prius rocking LGBT flags, social justice stickers, and I kid you not a Obama 2016 sticker.

I should have took a photo

Except that the lunatic left defines “bigotry” as any view or belief that does not confirm to their militant neo-marxist agenda. And I think you know that.

We are a mixed economy but government wise we’re heading socialist with large amounts of wealth redistribution, shared economic responsibility, kids being treated as property/responsibility of the community, ect

What happens in practice almost never fits into the ‘dictionary definition’ but it is what it is. Like the tards that claim communism has never existed because places like the USSR, and China (under Mao) didn’t fit their little dictionary definition.

For the time being I think we are headed more towards a Nazi like national socialist state not a Russian communist state where they’re gonna stick you on a commune. I think the IRS and other shit is a glimpse towards a future where the state is used against unfavorable people (we’re the new Jews) yet favorable people (Democrats, minorities, gays) get treated much better. For businesses, those that cave in will get treated better, and those who stick up for themselves (or their customers) get the boot on their necks.

I was reading an article on AT&T, and how they’re basically forced to cooperate with the NSA (and other gov entities) or they’ll fall out of favor with the government. The government needs these private sector companies, and have a ton of money to throw around in contracts. A business that doesn’t play nice can find themselves not getting contracts, and shafted by other agencies. Communications companies are heavily regulated, and need favorable gov status for important things like permits, bandwidth spectrum, contracts, regulatory reasons, ect. Its not really an accident why we have only two major cell service providers in this country. The fewer there are the easier they are to control, and they got where they are for a reason.

But socially a lot of people, even conservatives, have a strong believe in shared economic responsibility. Look at how many people on the right throw a hissy fit the second you suggest ending Social Security. SS is a Republican Party tenet.

So I’d say as a whole, we’re forging our own economic and social system. We’re definitely heading towards more state control, and a bigger social welfare system. They aren’t going to totally destroy the private sector but they can at least play games with them, and have so many regulatory rules/mandates that they might as well be state ran.

So correct.

Only thing I would add is we know Obama is a Marxist and he is using these people as a means to an end. He probably sees the short term corporatism as a necessary evil to get to the dictatorship of the proletariat.

Lets just pray the Dems don’t decide to push a candidate like Elizabeth Warren in 2016. Have you read her opinions just social security expansion? Good god its enough to give you nightmares.

Yes theres quite a few ‘plans’ the left has cooked up. One was a guaranteed minimum income for every American and a cap on yearly earnings where anything over a certain amount is automatically taken to be redistributed. We aren’t actually too far off from that. The elderly have a guaranteed minimum income via SS and Medicare. Poor people have welfare which is a guaranteed minimum income (and living standard). Wealthy people pay the majority of personal income taxes. We have a president who said, ‘At some point you’ve made enough money.’ If you look at all this it’s safe to say we’re a lot closer to these type of far left plans than individual responsibility and keeping the fruits of our labor.

I won’t be surprised when 401K and other private savings accounts are taken…or at least so heavily taxed they fall out of favor making people more reliant on the government for their retirement. People can be taxed throughout their working careers enough to where they simply don’t have enough money to save for retirement unless they’re up there in income.

One question: Who is “we”? Because it is certainly not “I”. Do you mean the nation as a people (like we the people). Or as in we, the BHO regime. “I” do believe that this government is putting our country in the shitter. The US has a very strong history of patriotism and courage. These days, pshhhh our founding fathers are labeled as extremists and food is suddenly racist. I do think that the government might be leaning towards socialism, but “I”, NEVER!
