Ive had a full size 2.0 .45 for years and it’s a great pistol but the butt is a little long for best concealment.
After getting an M&P 2.0 Subcompact im going to chop the frame of the full size to match it. Will use the flush & pinky extension 8 rd mags and 10 & 14 rd mags with S&W spacers.
I think ill have to glue my backstrap insert in place. I’m thinking ill use “plastic” glue and if that doesn’t hold can use epoxy.
I have to glue on my backstrap of choice. I used Testors glue for plastic because thats what i had. I’ll let that dry a week before firing but i have a feeling it won’t hold for squat & ill need to use epoxy.
I’d post picture but i don’t see how to do it on this wonderful forum format.
The close-up looks terrible. But the chop does everything i wanted. The backstrap is still changeable. It just takes a screw driver to access the square window in poke the retaining rod to rotate and then push it out.Pics are of a 10 rd mag with spacer & 8 round “Subcompact” mag.
Unfortunately i planned for the short grip to be how i was normally going to carry these guns and stocked up on the 8 round mags.
I had planned on chopping all of my M&P’s like this. Not that i was looking forward to it, takes time.
But now FL has legal open carry and printing doesn’t matter much anymore so I’ve been carrying with the 10 rd mags. I have several and the 14 rd mags, but if i had to it again would have bought more 10 rd mags that Aimsurplus had for $10. They were used but new springs freshened them right up.
I could not chop the others, but i can’t use all of these 8 round mags in them un-chopped.
