Any recommendations for a good revolver gunsmith?

Hi,

I am looking for a good gunsmith that knows revolvers very well. I have 4 revolvers that I would like to get gone through. I also have a King Cobra that when firing the 357’s all the cases get stuck. the 38’s are fine though??? I live in New England but don’t mind shipping somewhere else. Thank you.

The folks at Cylinder & Slide http://www.cylinder-slide.com/ have a solid reputation, and I was very pleased with some work that Richard Fletcher http://www.fletchercustompistols.com/ handled for me a while back.

Also, look into some of the projects Mr. Smith has posted here. http://www.superiorfirearmsllc.com/ No personal experience, but his work looks top notch and he’s associated with some dialed-in folks.

Just how “gone through” are you wanting to go? Just a mild tune up and some reliability work, and repairs to your King Cobra; or custom work to personalize the guns to you?

If you can afford their services I have seen one revolver in person done by Hamilton Bowen and it was spectacular.

Bring your checkbook though.

Since you live in New England, give Karl Sokol a call. He is located in West Rutland VT. His shop is called Chestnut Mt Sports.

I would send the Colt back to the factory. I had them work on an Official Police and they did great work, quickly.

If you are anywhere near CT try JoJo’s Gunworks. Jody Joseph is a great smith.

+1 on Karl Sokol. He brought my old Model 29-2 back to life.

Okie John

Gemini Custom. The Rugers that they work on are works of art.

Jason Burton and the boys as Heirloom build a unbelievable wheel gun… just saying

^ +1 Agree with the above mentioned.

Karl Sokol built this one for me a few years back. It started out as a Mod 58 and he had an old 520 barrel on hand. Rechambered to .45 Colt. He built the front sight by hand.

Cigardad, I’m green with envy. Nice blaster!

Thanks. Without getting into the 9mm vs .45 thing, I still prefer wheelguns that make big holes. This was the other revolver Karl built for me. S&W Mod 25-2 shortened to 4".

Another vote for Gemini Custom, Mark did a great job on my S&W 640.
