Would you be rather it be an BCM ELW?

…Damn OCR’s (facepalm).

The interviewees where pretty cool. Very level headed

No… I’d expect the AR pistol to be the weapon for this mission. This guy is a Director at Barrow Neurological Institute. WTF??

I guess I see a lot of guys in the world who went one direction in life, but still have a twisted special ops mission alter ego inside.

Stupid is as stupid does. :frowning:

These open carry guys are causing more harm than good… oye…

OK, for everyone else, if you are going to carry a rifle in a crowded area, you are NOT allowed to flag people just because you are sitting down, getting up or otherwise adjusting things to make yourself comfortable.

It takes a great deal of personal responsibility to open carry a rifle in a crowded area and if you can’t do it right then don’t do it.

Additionally, don’t pull “stunts”, nobody goes to the airport WITH a rifle just to buy coffee. If you are carrying a rifle, go to a more convenient coffee store.

I actually strongly agree with the victims of his carelessness in this matter.

“I know that he does have the right to do that,” said Julie Sanchez. “But I just feel he has other ways, other options, to prove his point.”

Shit… If was at the airport and I saw some nut doing this crap, I’d be freaking out… wondering if he was getting ready to start a shooting spree.

Non-Retards just don’t do this stuff.

I wouldn’t freak out, but “Be polite, be professional, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.” certainly applies!

If he was rear slung and not handling the rifle, I’d just keep an eye on him. If he flagged me or a family member we’d probably have a real problem. If you are going to be an “activist” the idea is to win people over and make them consider your ideas.

If you can open carry SAFELY in an airport without putting people at risk and scaring kids then you have accomplished successful activism. Especially if you can calmly and sanely explain your views in a non aggressive manner.

And in this case he wasn’t just exercising rights because he didn’t go to the airport just for coffee, he went there to get attention.

And if you ARE just exercising your open carry rights, it is YOUR responsibility to do it in a safe manner that doesn’t violate the rights of others or put them in danger.

These are the minimum considerations for open carry.

Fine line between genius and insanity I guess…

For this that missed it, he has done it before.

Yeah. It read like he’d done this before without lazing/sweeping people and just didn’t break any laws.

Hey, Steyr. Maybe you should start a “How to Open Carry, Responsibly” book of faces page or connect it to your “Four Simple Rules” page?

Support side single sling hang is the best. It doesn’t require you to move, adjust your rifle to sit, and it is a very non-theating pose. Your neck may not like you after awhile, but your image, and the one for the rest of us, will. Even samurai back in the day had carry edict that they strictly followed.

Damn idiot.

There really needs to be a damn guide for people who do OC with their long arms in public just so they don’t look like attention whore rejects (not that they are) and doesn’t freak the middle ground that will kill OCing for even pistols for us. Looking at how the Swiss and the Israelis do it is a start.

Did this guy even have a mag locked in?

I just don’t see ANY acceptable urban OC long gun scenario short of an Emergency event. There’s just no need, and nothing good comes of it.

Or gross negligence as in this case. Despite the hysterical headline, he didn’t really point it at anyone so much as he flagged them while handling his rifle in an unsafe manner.

That would be tilting windmills. Hard enough to get the “basic safe gun handling - only four rules to remember” message out to all the retards on the planet and that is fundamental Guns 101. I can’t imagine trying to promote safe and responsible open carry to the same problematic gun owners who don’t understand “Keep finger off trigger, don’t point guns AT people, etc.”

I can only think of a handful and then only if I’m willing to go into unlikely extremes.
