I bought one a month ago from Centerfire Systems. Just now looked and they went up 60.00 overnight.
I wanted this due more to curiosity than anything. A friend asked me about AKs a month and a half ago and I really couldn’t tell him much except, “Well, there are great and expensive ones, ok ones, and really crappy cheap ones”. I have been an AR guy for twenty years and pretty much refused to mess around with an AK just because it is the “Commie Gun.”:blink:
Ok, enough with my undeserved prejudicism. I bought this AMD after I found it through a search as a cheap, seemingly well built odd duckling. After receiving this unit in what appeared a very small rifle box, I was surprised at how compact and lightweight this rifle is. It was purchased to play with and keep in my footlocker box secured in a vehicle. Fits perfectly for what it was intended. Couldn’t wait to get it home to break it down and examine it. Mine looked just like the other one that already has good photos on this site, so I will spare the unmodified out of the box photos. It took two days for me to get time to go to my range and start shooting it. The AR has always been my favorite rifle to shoot. This little AMD is right there and maybe even more fun at 50yds and closer. It is extremely soft shooting, fast handling, surprisingly accurate, and after 400rds,100% reliable with Wolf Ammo and old early Chinese green box. All numbers match and look new. I ordered some Eastern Blok steel mags shortly after receiving it, then found out it probably needs to have some parts swapped to be 100% legal.
I thought about what I could do and cut the rear wire stock, bent some metal bar stock I had to fit my cheek, welded it all back together, and tried it out. It was almost perfect. The only drawback then was the stock was cold to my cheek since the temps were in the 50’s. I paracorded the entire new stock. The gun now comes up to the perfect cheek weld and the sights are in perfect alignment. Speaking of sights, I noticed initially all I could see was the front post within the blade. I like to see a little daylight on each side when looking lining the sights up for a sight picture. I took my Dremel 
and opened the rear gap on the rear sight, careful to make small increments equal on both sides. It now works perfect. I have just a bit of daylight on both sides of the front post. The next modification I made was to remove the front vertical grip and cut an inch off of it to shorten it. I use it more of a stop than a vertical grip anyway and when using 30 rd magazines, it gets the grip out of the way. I will probably find something cheap and USA stamped to put on there, along with my newly fabricated rear stock I could argue I made up the missing two parts for my mags to be used. Maybe? I will never tell whether the mags fit the magwell tight due to fears of helicopters and black suburbans surrounding my house and flash bangs going off.:fie:

No pictures of the modified front grip, it is just cut off an inch and then rounded to avoid sharp edges, if you can imagine that. The finish on these is simply flat black Rustoleum, which suits me fine. Easy to touch up if need be. I don’t care much about it as long as it isn’t a rough metal texture, and it isn’t.
BTW, My Friend? He bought an IO economy version for about 100 bucks more than mine.
