AK underfolder help please

Awhile back I decided to convert an old MAK-90 I have back into its original underfolder configuration. I purchased a polish underfolder kit and put it away until I had time to screw with it.

I finally dug it out last night and started assembling and realized that the polish kit is oriented so that the pin that seats in the side of the receiver to stop rotation is vertical. Problem is, the Chinese receiver has the slots oriented horizontally.

So, since I’m clearly ignorant on the subject, do I need to have a Chinese specific kit, or is there a way to make this work properly without destroying it?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Don’t believe you’ll get this to work as the Polish under folders use a specific rear trunnion to mount theirs. The Chinese under folders only used the receiver for mounting.

Honestly, the difference is only the damn rotation pin being vertical rather than horizontal. But, it prevents me from being able to finish the assembly because the holes in the locking lugs are turned 90 degrees so they don’t line up with the support pin.

DAMMIT!

Do you know a good source for Chicom underfolder kits?

Thanks for the help too, by the way.

Try Keng’s Firearms in Atlanta. They were ther premier importer of Chinese AK’s back in the day and they still have some parts.

My Norinco receiver has the horizontal notches and I used a Romanian stock set. It worked out well. There are a few tricks to getting one installed that would be hard (lenghty) to put into writing but a little observation, common sense and patience is all that’s required. Now that I think about it, I believe I watched a Youtube video or two that were helpful.
These stocks have a slight downward angle so they are not true to an original Chinese stock, at least the Chinese stocks I’ve seen.
I bought it from Colorado Gun Sales, who I think may still have them but their site is down right now.
I read often that a Chinese stock set can be had on Gunbroker from time to time, though the price is usually a bit steep. But that’s an option for you.
It all boils down to whether you want it to be all original Chicom or not.
I have a Chinese stock minus hardware that I have not yet looked into installing. I’m not sure if it will work with the Romanian hardware. That’s a project for another day.

The Colorado site is working for me now.
