Does anybody make a decent Aimpoint mount that provides absolute cowitness with my iron sights on my AR? I have an older CompC model.
I have a LaRue right now, but would prefer a lower mount because I find myself always looking at the FSP anyway…

larue has a low mount .
I saw that one, but it doesnt look much higher than the ring that came with my Aimpoint, which gave me a nice view of the body of the front sight post…
if you want absolute co-witness. you get more of the front sight in the tube.
I know a friend who uses larue 152. or the low mount on his carbine. it is absolute co witness.
I have the LaRue cantilever mount on my carbine right now, but I still find myself focusing on the front sight rather than the dot…I usually end up with a high shouldered weapon…
I shoot irons a lot of times. so my head is really low. larue cantilever mount LT129 and LT 150 (standard mount) is a lower 1/3 co.witness. so what I did was I don’t drop my head that low anymore. I just hit the buffer tube with the right side of the chin. it does take time learning. Im still learning. i got my aimpoint mounted carbine just a week ago.
my shooting buddy uses a low mount and it is an absolute co witness.
you’re just going to have to remind yourself to not go down so slow.
I do this drill…
aim with the aimpoint, aim with the irons a few times.
it will help your mounting and aiming. my last SBR was an a1 upper and 11.5in barrel. I learned how to aim this way. just like when you dry fire your pistol.
Doesnt help that even on a new battery, the brightest setting is just barely visible outdoors, regardless of weather conditions too, I guess:(
brightest setting is barely visible??? I usually set it at 6 or 7. and you’re not suppose to set it to the brightest. set it to a degree that the dot doesn’t bloom.
what battery are you using? use a single 6v lithium bat. some people use 2 LR44. this is a no no for a fighting carbine. I know LR44 is cheap. but good optics gets good bat.
or maybe you should call aimpoint. maybe something is wrong with the unit.
I’m using a DL 1/3N battery along with some little bugger in there just to hold the 1/3N up against the battery spring.
Indoors it is plenty bright enough to have it only half way turned up. Outdoors, it is very hard to see (I have to remove the killflash or I cannot see it).
The optic is probably 7-8 years old…Ive heard older ones can have a dim diode…
your batt is loose? my batt is pretty tight in with just the spring.
oops… it’s the older Comp C right? im using the ML2. might be best to check with aimpoint. with thier service. they’ll probably replace the diode for you.
Yeah its very old, like I said…its a silver sportsman’s model that the previous owner painted tactical black:rolleyes:

I’m stealing this pic from m24shooter over at Weapon Evolution…

This is what my Aimpoint looks like outdoors, regardless of weather conditions…just barely visible if you strain to look for it…
i think you should refer to aimpoint. its beyond our expertise.
I have a new comp c3 and it is really brite, I only need to put mine on about 6 or 7 outside on a sunny day.
I’m thinking I should probably try cleaning the contacts with some alcohol in case they are grimed up.
What do you guys use for batteries? I have one DL1/3N but also a smaller battery in there behind it to keep the cap snug…is that right?![]()
I am still using the factory battery that came with it. It has been on now for 4 months without shutting it off.
Have you checked out the Bobro Cantilever 150?
Yeah but I think it is obscenely expensive…if I do change it, I’ll probably go with an American Defense mount…
Put a piece of tape over your front sight post and unfuck yo self. ![]()
Hey Kelly, how was the honeymoon?![]()
