AAC Mini4

I’ve been using one on a 12.5" BCM/LMT SBR for the last 1.5 months. It’s an impressive suppressor dispite it’s very small size.

This one is going to live on a 10.3 but I am putting adapters on all of my 5.56 guns so I can use the can as much as possible. I wish Battlecomp would make something for the AAC line.

Ive been waiting on this son of a bitch for 3 months. Every month, "its coming with the next order. Called today, we got some AAC stuff in, but we didnt get you Mini4. Driving me nuts, and to boot, I still have to wait for the stamp. Oh at this point, I’d say Santa will be bringing that mofo:mad:

Killing me :suicide2:

Cory, congrats on yours. Give us a range report so I can live vicariously through the summer!

10.3 huh, you said to hell with that “its hard on the can” Good for you.

I have a 12.5 I plan to try it on, how is on the ears at 12.5? How bout 14.5? At what point is it hearing safe, 16?

Thank you for your feedback as always.

I saw the Mini at SHOT and when I spoke with the AAC rep he told me that it is not recommended for use on SBR’s below 14.5’ (IIRC).

Robb can you provide a comparison of it to others? I have been contemplating with a Surefire or the AAC Mini Unicorn for my next SBR upper build.

I wish I could hear one up close for comparison.

I am at the mercy of the BATF right now. I hope to get it before the weather gets cold. I promise, I will shoot the crap out of it!

IQGunz, It is GTG for 10.3. I spoke to Jason at AAC before I ordered it.

Can you shed some light on this? How is it compared to the M42K?

Any thoughts on this compared to the Surefire Mini?

“Hearing Safe” by a meter on a 14.5" or longer.

It’ll be fine on a 10" gun. at the muzzle it is a good bit louder than the M4-2000… but at the ear, it is subjectively the same sounding.

The MINI4 was actually quieter at the ear on a 16" than the M4-200 was- check out: http://www.silencerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?649-5.56mm-suppressors-(and-7.62mm-QD-cans-on-5.56mm)-SOUND-TESTING-on-a-KAC-SR15E3-(16-quot-)

That’s the length where it s hearing safe (measured at the muzzle).

It’ll still make a big difference on a shorter gun. It’s got all-Inconel baffles and endcap.

As long as I don’t have to wear ear pro or listen to people like markm and Pappabear blast away with their obnoxious unsuppressed muskets then I am happy.

Oh, so thats why you keeping showing how to sell my MUSKET. Long live the Musket. Fess Parker would be rolling over in his grave.

I just sent the funds for one of these little things. I already have an M4-1000, and I’ve been thinking about buying another silencer that can be used on 5.56 guns. I don’t really like the 18t mounting system on the M4-1000, but the AAC ratchet mount seems pretty good…albeit, not the best.

What it comes down to is that my primary use is on short barrels and I decided that right now, I really want something that I can leave on a 10.x" or 12.5" home defense carbine. The size and weight of the mini seem to make it a good solution to taking some of the “bark” out of the short barrels. I found a deal on the Mini-4 that I could not pass up. The only other mini silencer I’d get right now would be Surefire’s offering, but it would be about twice the cost.

I have to say, I think the ultimate combo would be the Mini-4 and the SDN-6: you have a common mounting system that can give you light and compact when needed, or more length and weight with lower sound levels if desired. And you still have the capability to use the SDN-6 on 30 cal guns.

Make sure you pay attention to what Jason is saying. It will be hearing safe “at the muzzle”. If you’re shooting it on an AR15 it won’t be hearing safe no matter what the barrel length is. If you look at the data he linked to you could have the quietest suppressor ever and the port noise will be above 140db. In fact the quieter the suppressor the more backpressure is created and therefore the more noise comes back out the ejection port right next to your ear.

Honestly the phrase “Hearing safe” should be removed from the discussion in this thread. As long as we are talking about semi-auto firearms and supersonic ammo there is no such thing as a setup that is hearing safe.

You’re ignoring the barrel length part of the equation. I’ve taken the exact same can and put it on an 11.5 and a 16.0 inch barrel during the same shooting session.

The 11.5’s port noise was undeniably louder. The longer the barrel the more thorough the output charge burn… and thus the less energy the can has to deal with.

I saw that you posted and was just about to ask if you got your Mini4 in yet and then…nice man

Any range report? Comparison to M4-2000?

Unfortunately, the Mini4 is still waiting for the go ahead from the ATF. Every time I see my dealer, they bring it out and waive it in front of me. I have my range in my yard all set up. Steel plates out to 320 yards! I am itching to get this thing home! I put an M4-2000 on this rifle to see how much longer and heavier it was than the Mini4. I will say that with this rifle, the 1.5 inches longer is not an issue but there is significant weight difference. I am glad I picked the Mini.

True but at what point is that port noise going to be below 140db? From the testing that Jason linked 16’ is not long enough. I doubt 20” will get you below 140db.

Ahh I got excited there for a sec…is that the M4-2K though or the Mini? I’m definitely looking forward to a review of it. I’ll probably make an order in January, so hopefully you’ll have some rounds through it by then  I’m planning a 10.5" build and honestly think compactness of the system is what I’m looking for over performance. A 30 cal can for a full size, multi-use suppressor is a route I might explore later
